Shadow Casters

Shadow Dancing

Shadow Dancing is a type of magickal dance that uses umbran energy. While Shadow Casters keep the secrets of Shadow Dancing to themselves, some Witches have been known to learn how do use a technique of Shadow Dancing from a Shadow Caster. One of these Witches is Nimue Umbrahold

Composition

Manpower

Their numbers are limited after the Angelic Crusades when they protected some of the Jotun with their Shadow Realms from the shadow tree, Ofnir.

Equipment

They need shadows and leather armor, most don't use armor but some tend to go for it after the Angelic Crusades

Weaponry

They may use material weapons, but choose not to as Shadow Dancing allows them to use the shadow caster's own shadow as a weapon.   The most notorious of these weapons, is the Shadow Whip, a whip used mainly by Draycul Vandrin and the Vandrin family.   While that is the most frequently used, it is not the only weapon that Shadow Casters will use as they are viscious with spikes, spears, swords, even darts made exclusively of shadow are only a small amount of what the Shadow Casters may use.

Vehicles

While Shadow Casters may ride in regular vehicles, such as cars are bikes, they choose not to because they may use a Shadow Dancing technique called Umbran Portal, creating a short cut or bridge to the destination they wish to seek.

Structure

There is no command structure. They are not divine nor holy warriors that follow a god are be commanded. They do what they can to help the people because that is why they were given these extraordinary abilities by Galakrond, The Horseman of Ofnir.

Tactics

Mostly their tactics include wrapping the target in shadow to restrain and providing protection to allies.   While they can not do two techniques at a time, they are however perfect spies and infiltrators due to the shadows that everyone casts, this technique is called Dark Truth.

Training

Shadow Casters are born and trained with their families. They start with the basic of manifesting at will and work their way to creating a pocket dimension known as a Shadow Realm, a practice that proves their training is over. This creation of a Shadow Realm is known as Realm Rite of Shadows and is the most sacred and greatest honor for a Shadow Caster.

Logistics

Recruitment

Children of age 4-10 are likely to exhibit their Umbran manifestations at this time. Children of this age are more likely to retain information on how to control their Umbran Abilities/Shadow Techniques.   The children that are recruited at this age have mixed emotions about the recruitment but it is the child's descision if they want to go. Some of the Shadow Casters are actual families like the Vandrin Family, a legendary family of Shadow Casters. Their Shadow Dancing is passed in the family, but most of the Shadow Casters are not that lucky.

History

Shadow Casters were created when the Draicormr, Galakrond was born from the Egg of Hallec, a special egg that was formed to be the chosen vessel for the spectral creature Hallec. There was only a handful that were trained by Galakrond in the art of Shadow Dancing.   Galakrond then later, after training the select group, created another magickal empowered group called the Witches. The Shadow Casters then found others, from the different races, who showed promise of Umbran capabilities.   During this time some of the Shadow Casters went out to find their own groups. Some taking to nature itself and becoming Druids, while others sought refuge with the Jotun and became Rune Knights.

After Galakrond's Teachings

After this split between the three Circles, the Angelic Crusades occured and wiped out the Rune Knights and most of the Jotun. The Druids and few of the Shadow Casters remained after these Crusades but not before they killed most of the Angels.

Where Are They Today?

Most of the Shadow Casters, and Druids, still remain in the Prime World today working as military agents undercover, some has even been assassins for hire.
