Dryara

Ask any Luminian and they will be able to tell you the tales of The Awakening and The Divide.
During the time of the creation the Great Mother, Dryara, and the Great Father, Atmos, forged the world using the chaotic elements of the cosmos. By using the same elements, the Original 8 Chaos Kin were awakened, each a personification of the element that created them. Of all the elements, Dryara favoured the Light Kin the most. They emboddied all the qualities that the Great Mother thought to be necessary for a prosperous world. They were kind, cared for the land and used their healing to help those in need.
The other elemental kin all had a destructive side, and were ruled by their emotions. Conflict would break out often, bringing natural distasters and Dryara would look upon the destruction it caused and frown. She wanted peace and prosperity and convinced Atmos that the Kin would only be happy if they had their own realm where they could not contradict each other with their elements. Atmos and Dryara created seven more realms for each of the Chaos Kin, leaving the original realm to the Light Kin at the Great Mother's request.
The Chaos Kin thrived in their new realms and used their elemental magic to create more Kin and other inhabitants, like the elementals, mephits and djinn. The other 8 gods (Eksus, Basus, Drarona, Utar, Gozena, Vonlo, Ghina and her brother Ghanu) were all tasked with helping the realms learn and develop. Dryara watched her favourite realm closely, forging the Lumunai to protect and tend to the realm that she cared for so deeply.
Both the Light and the Shadow realm developed at a faster rate. They seemed more organised to the Great Mother and Father. These realms became less chaotic and developed a sense of order, each in their own way. These realms produced people that were not as tied to their element, though they were still a part of it, the elves. As a test Dryara and Atmos tasked Vonlo to gave them the gift of magic, the magic to control the other elements. The Great Mother and Father did not want these two realms to use each other's elemental magic, though, as they feared that it would cause friction between the two and create an unbalance that would result in the chaos of the first world.
It is said that it was at this time that Atmos grew jealous of the love that the Light realm had for Dryara. He claimed the Shadow realm as his own, as Dryara had claimed the Light.
The Shadow and Light realms displayed excellent talent in the usage of magic, using it to aid their development. The other realms had reached a point of development at this stage where they could function within their chaotic natures. Atmos suggested to Dryara that the Light and Shadow realms be opened for visitors, so they could learn magic and from the different ways the two realms have developed. She agreed and allowed the realms to be opened for visitors, strengthening her Lumunia ranks to maintain control.
After some time, the Mother became aware that some of her Lumunians had left their duties in her realm to go to the Shadow realm and be protectors for Atmos. Dryara was angry, and it is told that the all the realms shook when she confronted the Great Father. He knew her heart, however, and told her that the Shadow realm also needed protection as they were just as strong as the Light realm. He told her that it would be negligent to not also have the same precuations and Dryara was calmed with this.
The Great Mother soon saw that Atmos had more planned for his realm, however, as she discovered that he had approached Vonlo and asked him to allow the Shadow realm access to the light element in their magic practice as well. This angered Dryara yet again, and Atmos again tried to calm her with the excuse that the Shadow realm people needed to know how to use healing magic. But the Great Mother would have none of it, worried that this one realm would be too powerful if it had access to all the elements of magic. Dryara placed a binding command upon Vonlo, prohibiting him from ever giving any Shadow touched control over Light magic.
Atmos was furious and he distanced himself from the Great Mother for an Age, hiding in a part of the Shadow realm (known as the Heart's Void from then on) that he shut off from the rest of existance. This age become known as 'The Age of Tears', because it is said that all in the Light Realm would cry often as they could feel the pain Dryara felt.
At the end of the age, at the time of the Unification festival, Atmos exited the Heart's Void with the goddess Ghina by his his side. He claimed a new name, Zalmir, god of shadows and death. He revealed that he had created another race that he claimed was better than all the others in existance. The vampires. With the realm borders still open, he laid siege upon the Light realm with his vampires and other dark creatures he had created in his absense. Four of the other gods (Gozena, Vonlo, Ghina and Ghanu) betrayed the other gods and joined forces with Zalmir.
The betrayal shook Dryara. Not only had Atmos chosen Ghina over her but he started a war that will hurt many and turned fellow gods against her. What followed was an age of bloody war that shook all the realms. The vampires of Zalmir turned many of the Light realm races in their blood servants, beta versions of themselves, to bolster their numbers. The only way that Dryara could turn the tide was to seal off the realms yet again to prevent more enemies from flooding into her realm. She placed a seal upon the Light realm, barring any with shadow in their heart to enter.

For so she said: "LET THOSE WITH THE SHADOW OF THE HEART'S VOID NEVER FEEL ILLUMATION OF THE LIGHT AGAIN"

From then on, the Shadow realm was known as The Void, and the Light realm was known as Lumin.
Many ages have passed since The Divide, and most that were alive that day died of old age or were killed in the war. The Luminians still insist that it is the voice of the Great Mother that keeps the stories of that time alive in their hearts, so they can pass it along as a warning. Although, to many younger generation luminians this story is one of those myths that were made up at one point but had been retold so many times people started thinking it was true.
