The Hub

The Hub is the only artificial world created by mortals. As such, it is really nothing but a flat disk of grey stone. Its “landscape”, or lack thereof, is comprised entirely of the various buildings of its composite neighborhoods. There are several public parks and large-scale gardens which provide vegetation from across the Multiverse.   The Hub is populated by various races of the Multiverse, most of whom have moved here for greater freedom. Various human tribes originally created the Hub to serve as a reliable bridge between realms, and most settled there, followed by exiled dwarf clans and Dark Sylph tribes. An entire extended family of mountain trolls from Cragspire has settled the north side of the Hub, proving that anyone was welcome if they behaved by the rules.   Wildlife of the Hub is largely confined to invasive pets and other things brought in through the portals. Occasionally, something will move through by accident, and adapt to scrounging through the Hub’s streets and alleyways for sustenance, such as Hellhounds shrinking into Dire Hounds, or Corrupted Rats becoming Giant Rats or Plague Rats.   The Hub’s main attraction is the Crossroads, a circle of large, permanent portals located in the world’s center. Some worlds are not permitted to have permanent linkage from the Hub, and the Hub’s government, made up of representatives from all fifteen districts, heavily regulate any major portals in or out of the realm.
