Races

This is an article detailing the general demographic information of Adronica as they pertain to playable D&D races.

Aasimar

Aasimar are a race unknown and unrecognised in Adronica. They are rare —they may be angels descended from the celestial planes for some divine purpose, the result of a tryst between an angelic emissary and a mortal humanoid (in which case, they need not be predominantly humanlike, but can take on the traits of other races), or an anomalous birth to devout parents.

Arakocra

Arakocra rarely live in large cities, but are a common sight to airship travellers. In more recent times, some small groups of arakocra have become sky pirates that attack airship travellers. On the whole, however, they live in cliffside structures just above the layer of mist, largely unreachable by other creatures.

Bugbears

Bugbears are found mostly in the Mistlands. They mostly live in scattered, violent clans. However, the Bugbear-Goblin settlement of Lûre'ket is one the most organised and established settlements in the Mistlands.

Dragonborn

The Principality of Hardol is a dragonborn-predominant realm. The city's rulership is currently headed by a clan of brass dragonborn, while the other metallic dragon clans make up the aristocracy. Dragonborn of Hardol tend to be proud, honour-driven, and are fierce warriors.

Dwarves

Mountain dwarves make up the majority of the population of the Nebograd Republic, a city they founded. Hill dwarves lack a large settlement, but are scattered across the taller hills of Adronica. Duergar live mostly in the Underdark cave system, Spierunen-Hrath, as well as Greywalk.

Elves

Elves are legendary figures of history, from before the formation of the mists. Few have reason to believe they are real —however, scholars largely understand that when the mists rose and many settlements were destroyed in what is now the Mistlands , that they fled the continent. Their settlements are the isolationist hidden city of the Umbra (mostly high elves), and Kantiria in the Mistlands (wood elves). Elves elsewhere may be mistaken for humans. Drow live mostly in the high intrigue Underdark city, Mae'vir, as well as Greywalk.

Firbolgs

Firbolg tribes usually live in in-between spaces, closer to the Mistlands than most settlers would consider safe. While rarely seen in large numbers, as they are typically reclusive, some stray to cities —there are a number of Firbolg families in Fenellore.

Genasi

Genasi aren't only of human origin but may originate from any humanoid creature. They are exceedingly rare, as connections to the elemental plane are just as rare.

Gnomes

Rock gnomes make up a large portion of the population of Synfral, where they developed the technology for mist-powered engines. Forest gnomes live in burrows further from the city. Deep Gnomes are found in the Underdark trade city, Greywalk, and tend to be intermediaries between the surface races and the other Underdark races.

Goblins

Goblins live in villages in the Mistlands, and are likely to send raiding parties to settlements above, when they are not busy warring with each other. However, the Bugbear-Goblin settlement of Lûre'ket is one the most organised and established settlements in the Mistlands.

Goliaths

Very few goliaths are known to other races, but those who claim to have knowledge of them report their tribes to be located in the freezing heights of the continent Gehrdak. Very few Goliaths have ever been seen in Adronica.

Half-Elves

Half-elves are not just the result of an elf and a human parent, but an elf and any other race (within reason —no cat furries). As high elves are so isolationist to not be known to most people, and wood elves live far unseen in the Mistlands, half-elves are typically identified as the race of their other parent.

Halflings

Halflings, both lightfoot and stout, are primarily found in the Synfral, and surrounding pastoral villages.

Humans

Humans make up a large population of the Fenellore, Synfral and a sizeable amount of the population of the Nebograd Republic.

Half-Orcs

Half-Orcs are particularly few, as very few Orc clans live in Adronica. As such, most half-orcs live in the continent of Gehrdak, or come from the Mistlands' Blue Beetle Clan or Night Winds Clan.

Kenku

Kenku, while not innately evil, came to exist as a result of a curse on a group of Arakocra, that made them flightless. Most Kenku live in small settlements throughout the Mistlands, prone to frequent relocation as a result of monstrous threats. Some inhabitants of Synfral, however, claim to have glimpsed creatures matching the description of Kenku darting through alleyways in the dead of night.

Tabaxi

Most tabaxi live in the Mistlands, as fierce hunters and slayers of monsters. The largest collection of tabaxi are those that co-habitate the forest settlement, Kantiria. Many tabaxi living above the Mistlands have travelled from Kantiria and serve as guides to those that adventure below.

Tieflings

The majority of tieflings are the result of old, long-forgotten fiendish heritage. They aren't just from human bloodlines, but may be any other race. Because of this, they may be found all across Adronica. Tieflings are rarely ostracised, as their visage is mostly seen as a novelty of birth, far removed from any actual devils. As very few tieflings are directly descended from devils, they have humanoid legs —however, a tiefling that is only a few generations removed from their devil ancestor (an exceedingly rare occurrence, and a potential cause for alarm) may have cloven hoofs.

Other races

The more 'monstrous' playable races live in the Mistlands, and are rarely seen above the surface.
