The Minds of Gods and Demons

New world. Warlocks exist and are beholden to evil demon like creatures and they sacrafice people to them, but they must stay somewhat hidden due to being hunted by the magistrate of most kingdoms in the world. Warlocks hunt humans with magic, so, humans that have magic are very careful to not reveal themselves. Few humans have the magic, so warlocks also sacrifice regular humans to their demons.   “A crevice opened in the ground, black smoke rising from it. A red glow of fire and lava lit the depths of the hole as a dark red tentacle rose from the gap, covered in soot and ash. Toothed suckers lined one side of the slithering, muscular tentacle as it unerringly crept forward across the ground toward the helpless woman lying trussed near the camp fire. He could see her eyes go wide as she watched the tentacle slither towards her. Her cries muffled by the invisible gag over her mouth. She struggled uselessly against the magical bonds holding her there on the ground. A second tentacle rose from the pit, twining around and over the first, this one black and spiked with tiny suckers on the underside that flexed open and close, tiny spikes at the center dripping a sick green ooze. The tentacles reached their quarry and begun to wrap around the helpless woman. Her struggles increased and her muffled cries rose in volume and pitch. The tentacles turned her over and over in the air just above the ground as they wound around her, then then jerked suddenly back toward the pit and pulled their terrified victim into the ground. The night seemed very dark and quiet as the pit closed and sealed, like it was never there.”   “The warlock across the fire sat staring at the place where the hole has been, his face a mix of terror and joy. Tendrils of red and purple light rose from the ground around him, wrapping around and through him. His expression changed to one of euphoria as the tendrils sank into his person, his back arched and he made a small whining sound of immense pleasure as the light infused him for a moment and then was gone.”
