Xapeta

A Kikipua culture native to the island group called Nûrîka, in the Southern Region. They are ancestor worshippers, who believe that the afterlife is just below the sea, and that their ancestors guide the fish they depend on to their children above the waves. According to the Xapeta, death is a process of going ever deeper underwater, with the newly deceased still near the surface and watching over their children, while distant ancestors have traveled deep enough that no light can touch them and they become one with the sacred waters.
