The Brightest World

Among the Kitsunejin, there is a mythical realm they refer to as 'Tinkanna yona Haiyuruyachi', which is roughly translated as 'The Brightest World' or 'The Best Dream'. It is their belief that the ultimate purpose of The Dream and all the worlds within it is to collectively create the best iteration of all the worlds that could exist. The Kitsunjin describe the process as one where all the participants in The Dream - which is all thinking beings - identify the elements of their worlds that spark joy in themselves. Those elements are dreamed of more often, becoming a part of more worlds, the inhabitants of which amplify the process, proliferating the 'brightest' elements of their worlds to others that echo them within The Dream. It is the belief of the Kitsunjin that the end result of this process will be a world that is the best of all possible worlds, where all the most joyful and meaningful aspects of all the worlds combine. They are the first to admit that they cannot truly imagine what this world will actually be like, but insist that it is a goal worth striving to create. They will sometimes refer to someone 'being their Brightest self' as a compliment meaning that they are bringing out their best elements. For many Kitsunejin, one goal of life is to be so well known and beloved that they (or the idea of them) would proliferate through The Dream to become a part of the 'Tinkanna yona Haiyuruyachi'.

A little discussed corollary to the Brightest World is 'Mennmannā yona Haiyuruyachi', or 'The Nightmare World'. Like the elements that spark joy and greatness, the elements of worlds that create fear and despair can also proliferate in The Dream. These dark dreams can give rise to the 'Nightmare World', where all the most terrifying and evil elements of all the worlds would be concentrated into a single realm. The beings that inhabit this realm would seek to drive out the dreams which could arise to form the brighter worlds - in fact, the goal of the Nightmare World would be to render the ideas that could build the Brightest World unthinkable. It is understood among the Kitsunejin that there are beings that would seek the Nightmare's ascendency, and that it is important to oppose and frustrate the agents of these beings whenever possible.

There's a powerful dichotomy to this myth that I imagine drive the elements of your world. Powerful concept.

What a great introduction to The Brightest World and by contrast, The Nightmare World. I love how this sets the stage for the struggles between The Nightmare's ascendency and the good-natured Kitsunejin.
