Adras Kwayzo

Adras Kwayzo is the volcano at the heart of the island of Chinet. It is the highest point on the island, and inhabited by the god Kwayzo who enslaved the island's inhabitants for two centuries, before being forced into an enchanted sleep by the goddess Achin. It is one of the highest mountains in the entire Great Ring, and it erupts frequently, with a major eruption every decade or so. Before Kwayzo was defeated by Achin, the black dogs of Chinet were living avatars of Kwayzo, with lava in their eyes and bodies formed from smoke, ash, and obsidian. While they have been transformed into flesh and blood by the touch of Achin's rain, they still have a connection to the volcano god, and always know when an eruption is imminent.

Ecosystem

The mountain's slopes is covered by a thin layer of nutrient-rich soil, and has a number of unusual species living there that are not found anywhere else. One example is the scorchberry bush. This plant produces shiny black berries that are warm to the touch and heat up very rapidly in water. Eating a scorchberry is a very bad idea - it will rapidly burn the mouth, and can kill if it is swallowed. The Tigzarin of the island will use them to heat water, but are careful to remove the berries before using the hot water for anything.

Another unsual creature found living on Adras Kwayzo is the glass catepillar. This creature seems like any other catepillar until it spins its cocoon, which is formed of strands of black glass. These glass cocoons are more durable than one might expect, but the creature can shatter it when they are ready to emerge, having transformed into a cinder moth. The shards of the cocoon are prized by some as jewels, especially in the court of the Malika of Saba.
