Cinder District

Two decades after the founding of Rubellite, the ruling family gradually expanded their influence over the many smaller neighboring settlements that had emerged. These towns were eventually assigned a sheriff that embodied the family's local authority, and they were grouped into districts. These districts were run by governors, lesser nobles of the house, and were the key building blocks of the Emberborn feudal system. The districts swore allegiance to the crown and paid taxes, and the crown provided protection.
One of the most important Cinder Districts entailed the farming land around Castanea and was established to provide the capital district of Rubellite and its surrounding area with an ample supply of harvest and livestock. This area would later become known as the Heartlands. The system of Cinder Districts ended in 532 with the founding of the Coalition, after The Incursion.
