Basic information
The Emberborn kingdom is arguably the most powerful force in the Valley. They retain close ties to the Realm and have enormous wealth in gold and silver mines; both of which enable them to have the largest and best equipped standing military force in the Valley. They are governed by their queen Elaysa Emberborn. Rubellite is their capital and they also have a seat at the table of The Coalition. Their lands lie at the entrance to the Valley and run from Rubellite in the West to the Reach in the east. Their southern border runs along the Deadwood Swamps north of Ashkelon.
The people of Emberborn are passionate, daring and fierce. Their love for living life to the fullest is matched by no others. A true Emberborn wants to experience and experiment with all within its grasp. They revel in excesses and have the means to do so. However, almost every Emberborn also has a proverbial chip on his or her shoulder. Because in present day their power is severely more limited than what it used to be during the 'golden years' of the Emberborn Empire.
The Emberborn family is closely related to House Cathak, one of the Great Houses of the Scarlet Dynasty, and to this day still maintain close ties with them. On more than one occasion a high ranking Cathak family member (and his or her retinue) visited the Valley to get some respite from the politics of the Blessed Isles.

History
The Emberborn family was the first major family to settle in the Valley. Ancesters of Alaysa were the first to re-discover the valley and claim one of the places of power as their stronghold, Rubelite. As free people settled in other places of the valley, outside of Emberborn control. The Emberborn gradually annexed those areas as Cinder Districts. Eventually almost all of the known Valley was under their control, thus forming the Emberborn Empire.
The First Long Dark and consequent rebellion by Wallace MapleHeart however forced the Emberborn to give up their control over the districts and allow them to declare independence.
