After a quick return to their ship, Captain Jackson Firelight of The Kelp Scraper came ashore and negotiations began. They agreed to provide men, supplies and ships to found a fledgling pirate port at the now ruins of Kennmouth in return for allowing Zelem and Morrigans people to be in control. They expressed concern about the navy being at port, and after the party came up with a plan, the pirates agreed to circle the island away from shore in an effort to avoid the navy and come ashore after the group contacted them.
After the negotiations were over, a Satyr by the name of Pink introduced herself after seeing potential in the strangers. As the former captain of the Lady Matilda, she wished to get revenge on her old shipmates and get control of her own ship. After Captain Jackson Firelight and the party returns to the Isles of the Sea Princes, she offered that if they helped her get her ship back, she would travel with them to the mainland. Deciding this an adequate arrangement, she joined the rest of the party as they began their trek across the desert.
Next the group prepared to continue on to the Abbey to find out who now ruled the island. The first step was to cross the dunes, and it became apparent that they were dangerous as vast amounts of undead attacked! The first group was easily handled by Morrigans Channel Divinity, but the second proved more dangerous. Strange goblins sprung from the ground and launched an ineffectual attack, but the second proved more difficult. As the undead were handled the goblins suddenly had a change of heart and quickly retreated, signaling the arrival of a colossal undead amalgamation! Its bone spears and devastating blows took a toll, but eventually the group struck it down. Before exiting the sandy shores, a lost soldier of the Stoneheart Valley Trading Company was found that got separated from his group during an undead attack. He provided limited information and was allowed to try to escape, but the group was sure he would not be able to find his way to safety.
With the dunes crossed and the sun setting, the trek inward continued. While passing near a grove, a lone Tortle strode out and called out Zelem by name. Worried but curious, the group followed the mysterious stranger into the grove to find out what mysteries he might hold.
