Whispering Tides

Geography

A rather strange landscape, Whispering Tides looks like a flat canopy from the shore. It is an ocean of trees, stretching as far as the eye can see, and set into the ground as if an ocean had dried up and the forest had taken its place. The wood is only accessible through small points on the shore where the land slopes gently. Otherwise, walking to the edge leaves one staring down at a steep cliff where branches brush the exposed ground.

The forest is known as Whispering Tides for a reason; during high tide, when both moons are in the exact positions, the forest is flooded with water, pulled from tributaries and underground caverns. These waters change the feel of the entire forest, submerging it up to the shoreline and bringing life to an entirely new ecosystem

History

This particular type of forest can also be found on Nix. Known as Brismere Depths, it is much older than Whispering Tides, and as such has dried up. Whispering Tides is much younger and therefore is at an earlier stage of its ecosystem.

Floris & Faunis

Every tree in Whispering ides execrates large amounts of salt during high tide, creating a new, temporary ecosystem for dormant faunis and floris to flourish.

The forest is largely unstudied by yudryaens, though the syl and khyma have learned much on their own.

Underneath the roots live a faunis known as khirvik. Just as intelligent as any mortalis, they have chosen to classify themselves as faunis, and as such, they are left mostly to themselves.
