General Description

Desius is one of the oldest of the primordials, and arguably the most powerful. They are the embodiment of death itself; violent, seductive, yet never quite how you expect them to be. Their spirit form is that of a red, Godzilla-sized dragon which they are able to shift into at any given moment. Sometimes they will shift to have dragon-like qualities, such as wings, claws, spikes, and will even keep some abilities, such as breathing fire and purring roughly like a cat.

Despite their past and present actions, Desius is not as needlessly cruel and violent as they seem; along with their violent tendencies, they are quite wise and intelligent. Desius is one of few to have full acceptance of every part of themself without exception. This acceptance is the largest reason for their extreme power; simply put, they do not fight themself and therefore they have complete and utter control. Their only conflict comes from those they may meet, though due to their diet of blood, bones, souls, and flesh, conflict doesn't tend to last very long.

This power also makes Desius immune to most other Primordial Embraces or powers. For example, they are immune to Disaris' gaze which is said to drive anyone to commit acts of insanity, if one is brave enough to meet them. Desius is also one of Disaris' few friends, or tolerable acquaintances as Disaris would prefer to describe them. The two of them even went as far as to create the Tarine which now reside within both Disaris and Desius' domains. Desius keeps 2-3 of them with them at all times, and these few are able to shift to be as big or small as they like.

One of the strangest things about Desius might be their fascination with Terran carnivals and circuses. It is uncertain how they learned of these events. Their domain, Decessus, is modeled after old Terran circuses, complete with hungry animals, mutated performers, and a ringmaster with a rather over-the-top fashion sense.

Carnivals are fun, are they not? The ringmasters forcing their workers to mutilate themselves, hungry animals kept in tiny cages with the desire to rip each other apart- the flashy lights and costumes, murderous clowns, the mocking laughter of the people. I know all about this particular pastime of Earth…  You could say I have developed an infatuation with the idea.

Animos

Desius and Animos coexisted for quite some time before they truly met face to face. Desius had gone most of their existence with no opposition; no one to stop them from continuing their violent and deadly rampage. Animos sought them out with the intention to change that.

Up until Animos’ interference, Desius simply consumed the life forces of the dead and dying for themself. To counter their destruction, Animos created reincarnation. Inspired by Desius’ own deadly kiss, Animos chose to use their primordial embrace to withdraw the souls from Desius and form them into new life. Animos intended for their kiss to discourage Desius’ rampages.

Unfortunately, Desius only began to kill more. Animos had succeeded only in seducing the violent Death, and Desius had only been encouraged to seek out their attention.

The third time Animos kissed Desius, they realized they had not only sought to end Desius’ violence; rather, Life had been drawn to Death just as much as Death had been drawn to them.

Animos chose to truly kiss Desius, this time, and in the end, their love for the violent dragon was exactly what ended Desius’ rampage. Desius shifted, revealing a merciful side of them that none had seen before; this embodiment became known as Khala. Khala’s awakening brought about a time of peace in Alatheia, and they became known as the protector of all dead and dying souls.

Khala

After Desius met Animos, the newly awakened embodiment of Life, they became much calmer. Animos showed them a side of the world they had never thought to explore; one where violence wasn't the answer, nor the only fun to be had. In return, Desius shifted into the merciful Khala. They revealed a side of themself to Animos that none had seen before.

Khala was named after Desius seemed to suddenly vanish. Khala rose 'in their place' and it was quite some time before the planet's inhabitants saw the two as the same being. They are an embodiment of an embodiment; that is, they are the gentle and protective side of Desius.

Awakening

Desius awoke soon after Nix was created. Born of Solace's energy and with influence from another astral,Serus, they tend to be rather chaotic. Desius was the only being to survive the mass extinction of Nix; they were alone for quite some time, and only when Animos awoke as well did they share the planet with another.

Due to their connection to Serus, Desius is also empathic. However, this is not well known. Desius is able to control how much they feed into others' emotions, as well as control their own. They can become moody around those that they care about due to their lowered defenses. Later on, their empathic abilities are also what causes their shift into Khala.
