B.U.I.L.D.

The Bureau of Undercover Intelligence and LEGO Defense (B.U.I.L.D.) was a global private intelligence agency based in LEGO City, tasked with protecting the world and its citizens from disaster. It was founded a long time ago, presumably dating back as far as the Knights of the Square Table. The most recent Bureau Director was Kjeld Playwell.

Structure

The Bureau was a rather simple organization, in order to protect its resources and secrecy. It was divided into a couple departments: Research & Development, Field Operations, and Repair & Recovery. The Director was the head of the organization, overseeing its operations and occasionally managing its departments or agents directly. Each department was managed by a Department Head, who oversaw the personnel and operations of that department directly, while taking orders from the Director.

Departments

The Bureau was organized into several departments, each tasked with managing specific aspects of the organization.

Field Operations

The department of Field Operations was tasked with managing the agents in the field, organizing the missions, and making sure the agents have everything they need to carry them out. The department also oversaw off-site facilities such as safe-houses and call-in points.

Research & Development

The department of Research & Development was tasked with developing and testing new technology and equipment, usually for agents to utilize in the field, but also for other uses. They also analyzed and studied unknown technology or phenomenon that would be discovered.

Repair & Recovery

The department of Repair & Recovery was tasked with assisting field agents in recovering and repairing damaged equipment, as well as providing additional assistance in the field if required. The department also provided support for repairing damage caused by disasters or hostile actions during operations.

Public Agenda

The Bureau's main directive was to protect the world, and LEGO City in particular, against any disaster. To carry out that directive, the organization also focused on research & development, and exploration, in order to develop new technology and acquire new resources that could be used.

Assets

The Bureau had considerable resources. Its funding came from most of the realms on Earth, and they had several mining operations around the world, and in space, that provided additional resources, energy crystals in particular.   Aside from material resources, the Bureau also had a large number of personnel, spread throughout its departments and around the world, and on several other worlds as well. In particular, the department of Field Operations had agents located throughout the galaxy to carry out various missions in different locations. The flagship team was Alpha Team, which was trained to operate in many conditions and consisted of agents with varying skills and specialisms.   Additionally, the agency also operated a series of advanced vehicles that its agents used to quickly travel around the world, or through space. These could also be used to assist in certain operations, such as airlifting, deep sea operations, search and rescue, and deep space exploration.

History

The exact origins of the Bureau was unknown, but it was believed to have existed in some form during the Middle Ages. A band of knights came together and formed the Knights of the Square Table to protect the known world against evil. At some point after the end of the Middle Ages and the Modern Age began, the world became divided into realms. As new threats emerged, a new group of protectors came together to form a modern version of the Knights of the Square Table. This new organization later evolved into the Bureau of Undercover Intelligence and LEGO Defense.
