A Dragon's Truth

A Dragon's Soul: Chapter 12

Written & Illustrated by: Rick Merriman
But that day he simply asked Barak, “You do, not? This sure you?”.   “Of course not, we love all the creatures we have created. None of us were involved, it must have been some wild beasts. Kalos, on the eternal sacred bones of your departed sister Kellium, I swear this is The Truth.  [The Truth]” Kalos repeated softly.   The Fire Dragon then simply turned to Siberlee. He gently ran his black forked tongue across her face as his usual goodbye. He knew she always adored it when he did that. To her, and her alone, he spoke:   “Speak us not. Time long me think.”   “Gooseby Sibr”   The Dragons did not speak another word that day. If truth be known he did not speak a word for the next 1000 or more Seasons. On that day, however, after his Dragon kiss to Siberlee, he spread his wings and soared to the skies toward the cave he and Kellium had once called home.   Kalos took Kellium’s body from that place he shared with her - the home he thought he would raise his children with his loving Kellium at his side - he could no longer stand the place. To Kalos, it wreaked of evil God.   He hid her body in a secret place no one, not even Siberlee or Barak, could find. As the Dragon toiled he dwelled again, and again, on the concept of “[The Truth],” and if, in fact, there really was such a thing.   Once her body was well hidden, Kalos waited.   And he waited…   And he waited…   Finally when the flesh from his sister's body was gone, and bones were completely dry to the point of being brittle, Kalos smiled for the first time in 1000 or more Seasons. His smile grew larger as he began to grind her bones into a fine powder and decided upon her final epitaph.   Kellium, the First Dragon may now be dead to this world, but the concept of truth, because of her bones, will live forever.   Kalos The Fire Dragon - 664 AM The first words written in Kellium Ink     When he was done grinding the bones, Kalos knew it was time to speak to Siberlee. There was much work to do.
