The Death of Kellium

When Kalos returned to his lair and found his dead sister-wife and the smashed eggs, the Dragon fell to his knees in horror and began to wail uncontrollably. As the tears fell off his cheek and into the pool of blood below Kellium's chest, his horror and grief turned to anger, and then the anger turned to rage. The Dragon could feel his body begin to heat up with his unbridled emotions. As each second passed, the heat and his rage increased until it was burning inside of him. His limbs and wings quivered, his mind clouded with smoke and darkness, and his belly and lungs were ablaze. Kalos knew he could no longer contain his fury in silence and let out a roar to release the grief within him. With that roar, an intense stream of flames shot through the cave for 20 paces. It was filled with the yellows, oranges, reds, and even the scorching blues of the hottest of any blacksmith’s forge. With the burning within him partially released, Kalos shuddered at what had just happened.

With trickles of smoke escaping from his nostrils the Dragon was momentarily relieved of his grief. It is thought by the Scribes and Sages who know of such things, it was on that night Dragons first learned how to breathe fire. It took Seven Days and Thirteen Nights for his rage to subside. Only then did he travel to Mirdoren to find his benefactor and friend Siberlee to see if she or the other Gods knew how such a horrible thing could have happened… and who was responsible for it. When Kalos landed in the main courtyard his pure rage had somewhat subsided, but cold icy anger replaced it.
