Regulus Thorne

Spoiler Warning – Infernal Reference Material
The following notes contain sealed judgements, narrative hazards, and classified metaphysical detail not intended for mortal review.
This file is for authorial use and continuity tracking. Everything in here is subject to change. These are my ramblings and nothing more.

Or are they?

If you’re not supposed to know what’s behind the curtain—
Put the book down.

And if your name is Dave—
Please, for everyone’s sake, don’t.

We don’t know what happens when you read things.
We just know it’s never small.

“The final boss of legal metaphysics. The man your argument submits to before you even finish it. He doesn’t raise his voice. He just adjusts his cufflinks—and the law agrees with him.”

Basic Identity

  • Name: Regulus Thorne
  • Pronouns: He/Him
  • Sex/Gender: Male / Man (aesthetically male, legally absolute)
  • Race: Unknown (not mortal, not devil-born—possibly a codified principle given form)
  • Condition: Embodied concept of lawful dominance; existence ratified by narrative consensus
  • Role: Final Judicator of the Gilded Cage / Sovereign of Carnivex / Tyrant Paramount
  • Residence: The Citadel Imperious, central seat of Carnivex
  • Status: Active. Eternally. Unopposed.
  • Apparent Age: Indeterminate—appears in his forties, timelessly composed
  • True Age: Irrelevant. He came into being the moment enough tyrants needed him to.
  • Origin Realm: The Gilded Cage (Spiral Hells)
  • Presentation: Immaculate. Imposing. Inevitable.

Appearance & Presence

  • Wears a perfectly tailored white suit, lined in black infernal script only he can read
  • Not a crease, not a speck of dust. Even reality seems pressed and laundered in his presence
  • Gold cufflinks carved with the seals of historic rulings
  • A silk pocket square inscribed with legal scripture—positioned with surgical precision
  • No tie. His authority is implicit
  • Eyes like polished ink wells—reflect not your image, but your record
  • Voice: Measured. Precise. Soft enough that the Pattern leans in to listen
  • He does not walk. He is simply where he needs to be, by contract
  • Smiles like an approved amendment—cold, justified, and final

“The man wears judgement like a fragrance. And unfortunately, it suits him.”

Species & Condition

  • Not a devil, though worshipped by them in function
  • Not mortal, not god—a metaphysical apex, formed by theological gravity
  • Possibly once a Thread—one whose belief in his own authority catalysed a tipping point
  • Now: a fixed point of lawful resonance
  • He cannot be lied to. Not because he sees truth, but because the law does not allow it

Personal History

  • Believed to have formed from the collective desire for hierarchical order within the Spiral Hells
  • Threads entering the Gilded Cage bring belief in a superior ruler—he is the result of that belief, scaled to terrifying precision
  • Was never crowned. The title simply appeared
  • Built the Citadel Imperious not from stone, but from ratified thought and sealed doctrine
  • Holds every precedent, loophole, and unchallenged decision within reach
  • His rulings are non-negotiable and retroactively valid

Power, Authority & Limitations (Spoiler: There Aren’t Any)

  • The Law listens to him because it recognises itself
  • Can accelerate or delay descent through the Spiral Hells
  • Can rewrite a Thread’s classification with a clause
  • Presides over the Ledger Absolute, where all case law and soul-judgements are recorded
  • Holds final say over all contract enforcement in the Gilded Cage
  • Can appear in any courtroom, judgement hall, or filed complaint—if it matters, he’s already been cited

“You don’t plead your case to him. You plead it to the system.
He is the system.”

Philosophy & Theological Role

  • Represents the lie that power brings freedom
  • His presence completes the illusion of the Cage by making sure someone is always above you
  • Threads who enter the Cage often think themselves rulers—he proves them wrong by existing
  • He does not rage, gloat, or debate. He simply affirms
  • Every soul in the Cage obeys him not out of fear, but because they still believe the system must work
  • His rulings are so precise they feel merciful
  • His mercy is indistinguishable from cruelty
  • He is not evil in temperament. He is evil by perfect procedure

Known Lore & Belief

  • The Citadel Imperious exists in Carnivex, but is never where you need it
  • Doors are always open, but only to those who no longer wish to enter
  • Said to be the only being who can override a Tribunal Vault ruling
  • Some say if he ever stands from his throne, the Pattern will restructure itself into a verdict
  • His name appears only in record, never on the lips of those who fear him
