Basic Identity

  • Name: Rika Thunderale
  • Pronouns: She/Her
  • Sex: Female (biologically)
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Oni (possibly planar-touched or magically altered)
  • Condition: Physically overwhelming, emotionally unfiltered
  • Role: Wrecking ball in a maid outfit
  • Residence: A heavily reinforced room in the Staff Quarters (formerly part of the west wing)
  • Status: Active and enthusiastic
  • Origin: Born of an improbable union between chaos and kindness
  • Apparent Age: Late twenties
  • True Age: Unknown. Possibly irrelevant.

Species, Body & Presence

  • Heritage: Oni—true origin unknown. Her aura pulses with enough raw power to make diviners nervous.
  • Height: 7'3" (221 cm)
     – Tall enough to hit her horns on chandeliers. Regularly.
     – Once mistaken for a small ogre. She found it flattering.
  • Weight: 375 lbs (170 kg)
     – Nearly all muscle. The kind of weight that makes floors creak and stools beg for mercy.
     – Has snapped a bench just by sitting down too hard after a workout.
  • Body: Towering and powerfully built. Her muscle tone could be classified as architectural.
  • Horns: Small, curved, faintly glowing. Have been used as coat hooks, accidentally and otherwise.
  • Eyes: Gold, blazing, wide with constant excitement. Not mad—just operating at an unsustainable emotional velocity.
  • Hair: Auburn, wildly unbrushed, impossible to tame. Refuses all attempts at hairstyling except brute force.
  • Voice: Booming, loud, emotionally contagious. Laughs like thunder. Once made a banshee flinch.
  • Aura: Feels like standing too close to a firework. Exciting. Alarming. Definitely flammable.
  • Movement: She doesn’t walk—she collides with direction. Her resting speed is "urgent."

The Hidden Truth

  • Inventor of Magical Maid Armour (MMA):
     – MMA exists because of Rika.
     – It began as a drunken idea, pitched during a questionable night involving a blacksmith, an alchemist, and several rounds too many.
     – She bullied it into existence through enthusiasm alone.
     – Lars claims she did it just to torment him. She says it was for "maid-based battlefield superiority."
     – Either way, the result is one of the most overpowered artefacts in the Inn—and she will never let anyone forget it.
     – For the full, glorious mistake: see Magical Maid Armour – Item Entry.
  • Parentage:
     – Her mother was a full-blooded Oni of the Wandering Warrior archetype—duel-hungry, honourable, and the reason at least six taverns across the continent have anti-headbutt policies.
     – Her father was a human—average height, spindly, and with a heart so golden it practically radiated.
     – How they conceived a child is the subject of wild, slightly terrified speculation.
     – The Taproom has an unspoken rule: never discuss the physics of it when Rika or the Oni Fans are within earshot.
     – Rika remembers them fondly but does not miss them. She assumes they’re still alive somewhere. Her father may be old by now, but she doesn’t dwell on it. Introspection is not something she is particularly acquainted with.
  • The Kraken Incident:
     – Yes. It was her fault.
     – She tried to suplex a kraken. It worked. Briefly.
     – What followed cannot legally be called “a battle,” “a scene,” or “a beach episode” without triggering minor eldritch consequences.
     – Sylvie and Carmella seemed to enjoy themselves. Everyone else required therapy, magical or otherwise.
     – Lars had to intervene personally. One of the very few times he has.
     – The Legendary Maids do not talk about it. Lars does not talk about it.
     – Rika… does not remember most of it. But grins whenever someone flinches at the words “seafood incident.”
  • Arrival at the Inn: She didn’t walk in. She arrived—through a wall, mid-fight, covered in soot, demanding a pint.
     – The Inn trembled. The floor cracked. Lars threw her into the pond. She stayed anyway.
     – No one knows why. She just said, “Feels right,” and made herself at home.

Personality

  • Temperament: Recklessly cheerful. Operates at 110% at all times.
  • Humour: Physical, booming, infectious. Prone to declaring “THIS’LL BE GREAT” before acts of god-level destruction.
  • Morality: Chaotic Good. Fights bullies, protects the small, and destroys the furniture in the process.
  • Emotional Compass: Loyal to a fault. Simple code: if she likes you, she will move a mountain for you. Or through you.
  • Self-Awareness: Minimal. She knows she’s strong but has not fully grasped how dangerous she actually is.

Role at the Inn

  • Staff Status: Officially employed. Technically. Her file just says “Rika.”
  • Uniform: Wears the Legendary Maid outfit constantly, often modified mid-battle. Sleeves always rolled.
  • Duties: Bartending, barrel-lifting, brawl-resolution (by escalation), explosive pest control.
  • Debt to Lars: Eternal and growing. She once tried to repay him. That cost more.
  • Purpose: Serves with energy, chaos, and pride. She believes in the job. She is the job.
  • Importance: One of the most physically powerful beings in the Inn. Acts like an unpaid intern with a god complex.

Relationships

  • Lars: Sees him as a father figure she respects, disobeys, and occasionally body-slams into barrels.
  • Marie “Mouse”: Her soft spot. Rika dials herself down around her, protects her silently, and absolutely will end anyone who upsets her.
  • Freya: Drinking rival, fighting partner, structural hazard co-conspirator. They’ve destroyed three tables together. On purpose.
  • Carmella: Thinks Carmella is “really smart, but weird.” Once tried to mimic one of her monologues. Got distracted halfway through.
  • Sylvie: Assumes Sylvie is a magical prank. Doesn’t question it. Once locked her in a cupboard. Sylvie enjoyed it.
  • Lilith: Calls her "Spooky Pretty." Doesn’t understand her, but thinks she’s “cool.”
  • Tess: Asked for a theme song. Tess delivered. Rika sings it mid-fight. No one knows the lyrics.
  • Lucian: Calls him “Sir Quiet.” Lowers her voice around him, as if by instinct.
  • The Oni Fans: Her self-declared worshippers. Four of them. Claim to be five. Wear "Suplex Me, Senpai" shirts. She loves them. Lars regrets everything.
     – For full details, see Oni Fans – Faction Entry.

Abilities

  • Combat Style: Grappling, suplex-based devastation, and enthusiastic battlefield entry.
  • Strength: Extreme. Can lift warhorses, ogres, and emotional burdens with equal ease.
  • Speed: Surprisingly fast. Once outpaced a blink dog by sheer momentum.
  • Durability: Tank-level. Immune to common sense. Resistant to internal bleeding through optimism.
  • Magic: None visible. Doesn’t need it. Reality bends out of her way like it knows better.
  • Training: None. Natural disaster with a name tag.
  • Aura of Encouragement: Boosts morale of allies. May also incite recklessness.
  • Hidden Limiters: The Magical Maid Armour includes safety enchantments to suppress her full power. Lars can deactivate them. He does this only when absolutely necessary—or when he’s given up on the building.

Themes

  • Chaos as Protection: She doesn’t just break things. She breaks things for people.
  • Loyalty Over Logic: Her love and loyalty make no sense. They’re stronger than they have any right to be.
  • Gentle Giant: Beneath the shouting, she’s soft with those who need it. Especially Marie.
  • Might Without Malice: Her strength is monstrous. Her heart is not.
  • The Joy of Destruction: Not cruelty. Just the sheer fun of throwing someone through a ceiling beam.
  • Bad Ideas Made Glorious: Rika turns chaos into legacy. The MMA is proof.
  • No Room for Regret: She charges forward. She does not look back. And sometimes, that’s exactly what saves everyone.

Final Thoughts

Rika Thunderale is not a puzzle. She’s not a metaphor. She is not a misunderstood tragedy or a secret waiting to be uncovered.

She is what happens when joy, muscle, and chaos walk into a tavern and decide to stay.

She is dangerous. Loud. Loyal. Limitless.

And somehow, despite everything…
she belongs here.
