Keep Kildaer

A formidable keep near Brayle that was owned by the Kildaer family. Now, it is a Headquarters for the Cath Bruig Imperial Seventh Legion.

Purpose / Function

When the Kildaer family was in power, prior to the Great War, their fortress was built to protect Bagrada and the villages of Tallow and Brayle or to be a fall back point with plenty of water and provisions to withstand a prolonged siege.

Defenses

The fortress has 60 ft battlements, draw bridges, moats and heavy steel portculli, the Keep is a formidable stronghold.

History

Despite how well built the Keep was, when war did break out, the speed at which Soulblighter and his army traveled from Forest Heart to the keep, gave the Kildaer family no warning to prepare for war. They were slaughtered and the keep was left undefended. Tallow and Brayle fell within a day and it allowed the Fallen Lords free reign to campaign west of the Cloudspine by way of Bagrada.
Following the end of the Great War, a man who called himself Kildaer took up residence as the master of the keep and Baron. He largely kept to himself, but there were rumors that he was involved in the dark arts. This would turn out to be true when he hired mercenaries to dig up peasant graves and began building an army of the Undead for Soulblighter.
The Legion would soon learn of his activies after rescuing Rurik, an Eaolderman of Tallow, who had been a prisoner of the Baron's mercenaries. Cruniac's Legion would lead a daring attack on the Keep, using a Dwarven Pathfinder to gain access to the keep. Soon after, the Legion would enter the keep and execute the Baron.
They would not stay for long, leaving for the West after learning of the fall of Brayle and Tallow at the hands of Soulblighter. They set fire to the keep and retreated to Gonen.
Today the Keep was repaired and improved by Dwarven engineers and requistioned by the Cath Bruig Imperial Army to serve as the headquarters of the Seventh Legion.
