Hylia the Lake-Bound

Hylia the Lake-Bound is a female deity that rules over lakes and springs and everything harvestable within. Her origin is closely tied to Hippodeans culture. According to scholars in the ancient mythos of the south-eastern part of the empire, Hylia was a so-called nymph, a minor goddess that was closely connected to nature. It is speculated that she was strongly worshipped around the Meydia region long ago, enabling her myth to live on. Because of this, she is also associated with ancient hippodean culture, although not many commoners who worship her are aware of this.

Worship

Shrines to Hylia are most often found in inland fishing towns and villages that lay next to a lake. Worship to her is not often done by individuals, but rather once every so often by a representative of the settlement, who prays on behalf of the village. The representative usually offers precious spoils that have been collected by the villagers or townsfolk. These objects come from nearby lakes or springs and tend to be items like pearls or artifacts, anything that is seen as valuable but not needed for the survival of the settlement. If no such object can be found, it is not uncommon for a local artisan to create an offering instead, which can be anything. Other than that, villages and towns that worship Hylia show their appreciation by clearing pollution from the bodies of water that they depend on, making sure they remain as clean as possible.

Appearance

Hylia is displayed as a young woman made entirely out of water. She wears a simple dress that is made out of water as well, blending in with the rest of her body. The dress goes down all the way to the ground. Its lower section, around halfway her upper legs, transitions from water into sand, with the final part consisting of sand entirely. around her lower arms, she wears a set of wrappings that are made of reeds and other water plants commonly found in lakes. Her face is rarely displayed in much detail, rather she is normally only given a pair of blank eyes and rough facial features.
