While in prime physical health the veining along his arms and forehead suggested a past illness of some sort wracked him fiercely. Despite this slight blemish he was seen as a very attractive man, especially at his age.

Personal history
Gorrig Vilsang was born the firstborn of a minor lord on the border between Blackmire and Genos. His father was a slimy man, always attempting to negotiate deals with one side or the other in the inevitable conflicts along the ill-guarded front. Gorrig learned not only from his father but from several captains of the forces garrisoned at Castle Stalwart of the arts of swordplay, diplomacy, and politics. In addition to this, far faded rumors talk of his personal tutor. A grim, sunken faced man who seldom showed any emotion and who carried some reputation of dabbling in despicable acts even the most perverse mages would shudder at. These whispers insinuate that it was by some dark rite that Betrand met his bizarre end, though the Captain of the Black Wing Mercenary Company was the one found guilty of his death. After this Gorrig began his ascent to power which included his marriage to a wealthy noblewoman of House Hoch, his personal expeditions into the Fallen Leaf Isles, and his fortuitous gains during the Great Davidian Island Assailment. He ruled as one of the most powerful lords in Blackmire and seemed to be vital ally to the king.
Gorrig's ambitions would ultimately be his undoing however, the mistreatment of his daughter Maria, the creation of his alchemical "children", and the dark dealings perpetuated by the Blood Moon Company would tarnish his reputation even as he grew his own power. This allowed Maria to turn the ear of King Aric and her companions to the foulness he was preparing and ultimately slay him at a critical moment.

His tutor was a curious fellow that never talked of his own origins. Gorrig was able to learn much from him though including several obscure languages, bizarre and forgotten histories, and many other arts not known to the common man. Aside from these obscure arts Gorrig was educated in history, swordplay, strategy, and medical science.
Employment
Before he became Duke he was a knight in the service of his father. This put Gorrig in close command of mercenary companies from a young age and allowed him to get a feel for how to boss the common folk around.

His hopes were that through using obscure arcana to allow a slain godling to be properly born through body parts forcibly removed from his own daughter, ensuring that he would be seen as the ultimate source of the bloodline, that he could force the universe to recognise him as the godlings father, thus causing him to be and always have been a god. With this power he would have become the second progenitor of the Davidian people and conquered the world, ruling in blood and twisted flesh for all time.
