Lambda Equuleites (Leeks)
Lambda Equuleites—also called “leeks” are the race most people think of when they hear the word florans. They actually resemble flowers, complete with petals on their head.
The "skin" of leeks is harder, similar to the stem of a rose. The skin is thick enough that it gives them some natural armor. The skin is always a deep, forest green colour. Their head has a rough looking "seam" down the centre of their face. There is no nose, but the seam is thicker, and sticks out slightly higher near where the nose on most humanoids sits. They have two eyes, and a mouth, located in the usual places. Many have two protrusions on their chin that resemble dull thorns. Above the eyes, are similar protrusions that stick out to the sides where the eyebrows are.
The tops of leeks heads have flower-like petals or leaves that are usually kept down, and it's in the place that you would see hair on other races. Each petal or leaf is 2-6 inches wide, and can be nearly any colour such as red, violet, yellow, or blue. Unlike hair, leeks can exhibit some control over these petals and can fan them out like a flower, or close them around the face. This second ability doesn't offer much benefit other than preventing dust or particulates from getting in the eyes. However, while the face is covered, they are blind.
Racial Abilities
- Dependency (-2): Leeks need at least one hour per day in suitable light. They prefer natural light sources like stars, though artificial light can work as well. Otherwise, they suffer 1 level of fatigue per day. Fatigue is recovered at the rate of 1 level per hour of sunlight.
- Environmental Weakness, Heat/Fire (–1): Florans suffer +4 damage from heat or fire attacks, and a –4 penalty to resist any other effects.
- Outsider (-1): As an outsider, leeks get a -2 to persuasion rolls with non plant-based sentient beings. Other plant based creatures such as Daalens do not have this applied to them.
- Armor (+1): The tough outer skin of leeks gives them a +2 to armor.
- Hardy (+2): A second Shaken result in combat does not cause a Wound.

- Regeneration (+2): Leeks that are not suffering from exhaustion can from a lack of sunlight can make natural healing rolls once per day instead of Every 5 days.
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Like all Floran species, leeks breathe carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen. They can not die if oxygen deprived, but a lack of carbon dioxide has the same effect.
Many toxins and poisons may not affect leeks like it does mammalian species like humans due to the different biology. This doesn't mean they are immune to all toxins and poisons, just that different ones may be needed.
Genetics and Reproduction
Leeks are non-gendered, and any two can cross-pollinate to mate. This is only done to further the species, and usually among paired couples. Their relationships are monogamous, but sometimes short lived. The average pairing lasts 2-4 years.

Having a life span that tends to last 28-32, they mature young. Reaching adulthood after only 4 years.
