Daal

Daal is a terrestrial planet about 10% smaller than Earth. Gravity is slightly lower than Earth as well, being about 95% of Earth normal.   It is the home world of the Daalens.   Much of the lowlands of the planet are rich in large crystals. Some are hundreds of feet across. This is often used to construct central buildings in towns and cities.

Geography

There is an island chain that spans nearly 1000 km. The largest island is is approximately 50km by 100km in size. It has a large crevice that goes miles into the earth. From this opening lots of carbon dioxide comes out of the depths of the planet which feeds the abundance of plant life. The rest of the island chain consists of active volcanoes rising from the ocean.   The rest of the planet consists of 4 main continents, each with its own unique features.

Fauna & Flora

Daalens have selectively bred, or otherwise eliminated large herbivores on the planet. Nothing larger that a caterpillar consumes plant life, and they only nibble on leaves, not doing any long-term damage to plants. Other small mammals, similar to squirrels will eat the nuts and seeds that have fallen from trees as well.   Carnivorous creatures run abundant in the wilds of Daal. There are several species of birds, as well as those on the land, and in the sea. The largest of the land based creatures is the Stomper (Science fiction companion, page 94).   The planet has a wide variety of plants. All the common types of trees, bushes, grasses, and flowers. Though a few species do stand out including the Acid Pitcher (Sci-Fi companion, P. 74)
