The war of earth and sky

This story is told by six constellations put in the sky. Hyperion Placed them in a revolving manner to remember this war.

Cancer (the crab)

The world was once dark and controlled entirely by Err and Oshhu. The four children of Earth were forced to serve the will of their parents.   Hyperion secretly made stars in the Firmament to give a small amount of light to the world. Err detested the light and confronted Hyperion asking him to remove his creation from the sky.   When he refused and confronted the selfishness of his parent's, Oshhu flew into a rage, causing the greatest storm that had ever occurred in history. Mountains crumbled and pools of water flooded areas, some of which are still flooded to this day. Even Cherrk was tossed about in the tumult.   Hyperion was knocked unconscious in this maelstrom when he attempted to escape to the Firmament.

Cyra (the giant)

Unconscious, Hyperion fell into the colder, more empty regions of The primordial Sea. The frozen trenches that the Frost Titans dwell in.   Curious, the king of this realm, Cedras, captured and questioned Hyperion.   "Why is the sea above swirling and moaning? My people are distressed!" Cedras railed into the ragged titan.   Hyperion Explained about how he created light, and told Cedras about the world above. He told how when he refused to remove light, Oshhu created a terrible storm.   Cedras was interested in this "world above," his people could only exist in cold areas, and the primordial sea kept getting warmer, and warmer. He offered to help Hyperion if he would be given a portion of this world, and be allowed to make it colder occasionally. This deal was sealed by the marriage between Winda and Hyperion.   Inspired by the ambition given to him by Change, Hyperion accepted and prepared to fight his parents.

Khat (the beast)

Hyperion then set about recruiting some of his siblings. He went down on to earth and found the twins, Alisse and Anistar. They were bickering as usual, but when they noticed Hyperion they grew pale and silent.   "We are not allowed to speak to you brother." Anistar said firmly.   "Do you not want to be free of each other? My kin, surely you understand that our parents are the ones that force you to cooperate! If You help me, I promise you shall be able to be far away from each other." Hyperion said as he looked into the eyes of his siblings.   They agreed to join this resistance, and followed Hyperion to the camp of Cedras   During the many months of planning, this is when Alisse snuck out and began creating the animals of the world.

Sola (the sun*)

To prepare for the war Hyperion created a giant star that nowadays is known as the sun. It would sore through the firmament and then descend into the abyss. It acted as a fortress for the Titans in rebellion, and at the time was not on fire as it is nowadays.   This set a signal to Oshhu that is was time to fight, himself. He raised the nymphs of the mighty oceans, the titans Kzzk and Monolith (though monolith was not passionate about this war and remained on the sidelines, only to occasionally trip or tease the combatants), and Err themselves.   The war was originally fought on the earth itself, but as the sun set, Oshhu lost ground. The fight eventually descended into The primordial Sea. Err, however, had a trick up their sleeves and started using mass amounts of Magic to curse the sun. Then they set off all the volcanos of the Abyss.   This bombardment, turned the sun into a fiery death trap that would be cursed to forever be aflame. All of the Frost Titans stationed on this fortress were instantly killed, though the other titans were able to escape in time. Cedras Was not on the sun as he was currently tossing the shoes of Monolith off into a trench.   The sun was now set to spin uncontrollably, and the rebels were forced to retreat from battle.

Lvantris (the hunter)

During this first battle, Anistar noticed all the animals Alisse had created. These creatures annoyed him, for they had the instinct and impulsive nature of his sister. He confronted her and began to argue. This arguing fell on bad ears of the grieving camp and Hyperion himself confronted Anistar.   "My brother, I can see even these dark times you can not cooperate. Your will is of its own. I do not wish to harm you, but please leave us so you do not cause anymore conflict."   Anistar, knowing he could not return to his parents, decided to make his own people. His own family he would care for. They would not serve the heavens of Hyperion, nor the seas of Oshhu. He created the first sentient mortals; He created humanity.   Monolith saw this, and since he was weary of war, he gave these new peoples an intrinsic connection to the earth they dwelled on. This power would define the rest of history.   "Only these humans, or their descendants herein shall have control over the Wells of Magic of this earth." Monolith, bursting with eons of saved Magic continued, "If any of us gods wishes to influence this world, we must do it through them. Their worship shall give us our power."   And like that, no god could have effect on earth without the worship of a mortal.

Isilik (the cross)

This left an eternal divide between the earth and the sky. Hyperion was trapped, forced to rule Firmament and trapped waging eternal war.   Oshhu and Err were forced to rule The primordial Sea and scheme against their rebellious children.   The other titans such as KzzK and Monolith were forced to wander the earth, and eek out Magic from potential cultists or shamans.   And so the first era began.   *this is a constellation resembling a stylized sun, not the sun itself

Historical Basis

The events recorded here are almost certainly accurate. However details may be missing because of how most titans who witnessed these events are dead or absent from the world now.

Spread

The constellations eventually became gods through the worship mortals gave them. Each god had a resemblance to the events that each constellation represented.

In Art

Monolith made many ancient representations of this war across the world. He also made time recording stone circles to represent each constellation.   This would be eventually recognized as Monolith's Measure.
