The four children of Earth

Once there was a time when everything was ruled by two Gods. Err and Oshhu. Err controlled the mud, stone and earth. Oshhu controlled the seas and skies. The world was solely a canvas for their works of rock, hill, and stream. For Eons they would make and unmake mountains. The universe itself, Change, became tired and gave them a desire for children.   The first child they had was Hyperion. Oshhu gave him a name that was suggested by the Nymph; They loved his striking blue eyes. Change gave Hyperion the gift of Ambition, the motivation to always do better. Hyperion was raised with Osshu as he toured the world he had helped create.   The second child was born shortly after, his name was Monolith. Err named him after one of the mountains they had previously destroyed. He was a particularly strong child, but was gentle and thoughtful. Change gave him the gift of a gemstone chisel, that was unbreakable as it was beautiful.   These children grew over another eon of chaos and destruction and began to add to the creations of their parents. Hyperion, though it was not accepted by his parents, began to fill the firmament with glowing orbs he called stars. Monolith, who quickly became the favorite child, flattered Err by making Stoney structures on the earth itself.   The final two children Err and Oshhu had were twins: Anistar and Alisse. They were named after two rivers that still exist to this day. The two siblings were always fighting because of their different personalities. Anistarwas social and slow to act; Alisse was introverted but impulsive. Change gave them both the gift of life, the ability to give their creations minds and souls of their own.   And so the four children of the Sea and Earth were born, and they grew and created many things when their parents asked them to, but were never allowed to make anything unsupervised. Hyperion was forced to move his stars to places in the firmament where magic wells laid. Monolith, being the favorite, was allowed to wander the earth, building stone circles wherever he saw fit. Alisse and Anistar, being forced to cooperate, made plants to decorate the earth Err created. Anistar would make good tasting plants, and pretty things; Alisse, bickering and spiteful, would give plants thorns and make weeds to hurt the creations of her brother.
