Tansin Plains

Tansin Plains is the name given to a great region of barren rock, arid plains and searing desert that stretches between the Morbog and the Tansin Wilds. It is a land notorious for harbouring the largest concentration of enormous dinosaurs in all of Tansia, as well as serving as the home region of the Kingdom of Zicotl. Outside of the civilization of the Kingdom, to venture into the Tansin Plains is to take your life in your own hands, for safe travel is not guaranteed to those who are unable to tame the great beasts of the plains, even to those accompanied by a large escort. Even without the inhospitable nature of its inhabitants, the Badlands are a harsh and unforgiving landscape.   Within the lands, there lie many strange rock formations that rise in twisted shapes from the earth, and crumbling, haunted, ancient ruins which mark the regions once claimed in every direction by the Kingdom of Zicotl from the time before the ancient Tahosian Civil war, not to mention the vast number of Ak'teshi tombs, lost ruins, and temples far older than any sites once claimed by the Kingdom. All manner of predators prowl the wasteland. raptors stalk the craggy bluffs, black feathered carrion birds circle overhead, gargantuan herds of sauropods roam the rolling hills of weathered grasslands, and pairs of ravening tyrannosauruses constantly stalk for easy prey under the light of the sun. In the southern reaches of the Plains near the Ak'tuin's Back Mountains dwell a significant number pterosaurs who are not above scavenging carrion nor picking off isolated travellers should an opportunity present itself.   Some isolated tribes of Saurask have called the Tansian Plains home for thousands of years, living on the fringes of Tahosian society and the empire's domain. There are too few Saurask living within the Tansin Plains to form an army big enough to invade and claim any part of the Dynasty's territory, thus they are relegated to scrounging a living where they can, forming raiding parties to attack passing caravans and trading convoys to eek out a decent living. In a way, one could consider the Saurask to the local Tahosian populace what Green-skins are to many other populations and nations across the world. In fact, the Saurask are not above working with roaming tribes of Green-skins if it means a successful raid.
