Vizier

While The Pharaoh rules over the whole kingdom, there is many levels of beuracracy that he has to deligate in order to keep the kingdom running smoothly. Just below Pharaoh are the Viziers. They usually have some blood relation to the Pharaoh and part of the dynasty, but not normally in direct line for the throne. Below the Vizier are the Nomarch and finally the Qenbet
The Kingdom is divided into four sections (Lower, Middle, Upper, and Nubiar Oversight) along the Stygian River. Each section has a palace for the Pharaoh, with the Middle Khemit having the main palace at Elephantine. In each section, the Vizier manages the burarcacy and be the judicial arm in the name of the pharaoh. One of the main duties of the Vizier is tax collecting and overseeing any projects that the Pharaoh requested. Below them are the village elders and city officials which enforce the laws at the next level.


The Pharaoh will travel between each section on occasion to view that part of the kingdom. When he does, he stays at the palace, while the Vizier retires to the adjacent guest house. This is not a slight to the Vizier, but a normal practice. The Pharaoh may show interest in daily operations, in which case the Vizier is only in the position as counciler while the Pharaoh is staying in the section. While the Pharaoh is there, the Vizer moves to more domestic duties security for the palace and knowing all the guests wanting an audience with the Pharaoh.
The Nubiar Oversight is a bit of an exception. The Vizier there is not a direct blood relation to the Pharaoh. The Estiri pick their own Vizier from the upper caste. When the Pharaoh chooses to travel there, he will stay at the palace, but mostly listen to the Vizier in managing operations. The reasoning is timescale. The current Vizier to the Pharaoh was a Vizier for three generations, and only now is looking to retire.

Vizier Zeyad,Upper Khemit

Zeyad is the youngest nephew to the Pharaoh. He is young for the vizier position (though the same age as the Pharaoh), but he is ambitious. Some say a bit too ambitious, even though he is not in line for the throne.

Vizier Mahadi,Nubian Oversight

After serving three Pharaohs, Mahadi is ready to step down and allow his daughter to become the new Vizier with the pharaoh's blessing.
