The Sunset Spine

A mountain range stretches across the western horizon in Daring Heights, starting a little way south of Kundar and stretching further south than any have yet explored. Every evening the sun sets over these peaks, which made naming them a simple matter for locals.
Much of Daring is built of Sunset stone, a quarry being one of the first places established once construction of the town commenced. Since then the mountains have proven to be places of mystery and danger - gnolls, ancient Yuan-Ti superweapons, lost elven civilisations and the orcish horde that overwhelmed Daring - all and more were found here. And there is much more to discover yet.

Geography

The eastern slopes facing Daring continue the temperate, fertile climate of the rest of the region, with grass and clumps of trees covering the foothills and early inclines of the mountains. Past that however, it begins to get significantly drier and more arid. Reports of a large desert to the west of the Spine give context to the harsher terrain, which becomes more prominent further north towards the The Scorching Badlands.
