Urbemor

Venture-captain Urbemor

Urbemor is a survivor from an unknown star system, sheltering the last of his kind. Although at first his attempts at survival were malevolent, he was defeated and now lives under a refugee status in the Pact Worlds under incredibly intrusive restrictions.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Although Urbemor's physical structure bears little muscle, the array of tendons and cartilaginous structure hint at significant dexterity, further honed by his capabilities as a stealth-based operative.

Apparel & Accessories

Generally dresses in subtle modern fashion, robes favouring dark colours and in a style befitting a modern office worker.

Specialized Equipment

As part of his refugee deal, Urbemor must wear a psychic suppressant.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

  1. When the illithid homeworld was threatened by a sentient black hole, several of their kind were sent out across the Material Plane with cryogenically frozen eggs - the remnants of their @race.
Over time, Urbemor lost contact with his fellow guardians until only he remained.
  2. Eventually, Urbemor decided that he must take a previously-unacceptable risk and attempt to infiltrate the Pact Worlds. He approached the famous Del Agrae, now a Steward but was attacked on sight and forced to defend himself. He took the dead war hero's armour and returned to the Pact Worlds in it.
  3. ?AG: Events of Ice Station, TBD
  4. 24/10/324AG: Urbemor requested that his old nemeses (Julakesh, Tyrfing, and Zanderbey) investigate the murder of their mutual friend and ally: Ted Goldworthy. They accepted his employment as members of the local Starfinder Society.
  5. 24/10/324AG: Upon returning from the Drift Rock, Urbemor waited in Orgren's taxi for the PCs. He was suspicious about the crate that they brought with them, but Tyrfing sent it away before he could discover its contents. Urbemor arranged for medical aid for all, but kept the trio under 'house arrest' in the Lorespire Complex.

Once the ancient runes taken from the computer found inside the Drift Rock had been decoded by Guidance, Urbemor called them to a lunch where he consumed a vat-grown brain during their meal. He explained the next stage in their quest: to go to Castrovel (much to the dismay of Tyrfing) and discover any connection between the 'explorer' Indi Ana'jon's "pyramid people of Ukulam" and the runes.

Gender Identity

Masculine

Employment

  1. (Current) Venture-captain of the Lorespire Complex, for the Starfinder Society.
  2. (As Del Agrae) Stewards.
  3. (Unknown) Illithid government.

Intellectual Characteristics

Urbemor has proven himself to be a cunning, capable operative capable of long-term, deep-cover deployment (demonstrated by his success in deceiving the elite Stewards organisation for many years). He is also a competent combatant, defeating the legendary war hero Del Agrae with no assistance. Socially, he is as manipulative and cunning as is often expected from the illithid race, having made his way into a position of leadership within the Starfinder Society. Mind games are clearly his forte, and as of such he should be engaged on other fronts - if at all.

Taboos

Escaping (intentionally or otherwise) any of his restrictions imposes an instant kill-order on all illithid - tempting bounty hunters with a 50,000cr bounty, alerting all Station Security, and setting into motion an Infernal Contract involving a pair of levaloch(link) devils materialising with the objective of capturing or killing Urbemor.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

We are reasonably certain that Urbemor's claim to “save his race from extinction” is the truth - at least partially. Under several layers of magical and chemical compulsion, he tells a story of his homeworld(link) detecting a sentient black hole fixated on consuming their planet(link). He was assigned a container of cryogenically frozen eggs, and told to find a safe place where their species could continue. He wasn't alone - thousands of others like him were also sent with a similar task.

Currently, Urbemor claims that ensuring his kin remain safe inside the boundaries of the Pact Worlds is the most sure way of defending them against any threat from himself. Although Urbemor has sworn loyalty to the Pact Worlds, we are unsure of his intentions should he return to a position of power.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Urbemor is presumed to have close relationships with other illithids sent on similar missions to avoid their species' extinction, but no contact has been made yet.

Religious Views

AbadarCorp. Urbemor has recently been seen attending the Church of Abadar regularly, stating his motivation to be 'mere curiosity'. Whatever the truth may be, his actions remain within the chosen boundaries - even power-hungry brain eaters have the right to choose their afterlife.

Urbemor has stated that he chose Abadar by a method of deduction: he didn't want to risk association with evil deities, while he experienced far too much bias from good-aligned priests. He had too little interest in neutral ones (and even less in chaotic ones), leaving only lawful-neutral as the safest option for himself and those around him.

Social Aptitude

Deceptive. Has been proven to be an excellent deep-cover operative for years at a time. In addition to this, illithid are known to tend towards manipulation and domination - such traits are expected from this individual, too.

Speech

Slow, squelching and carefully chosen words seem to be the illithidian verbal format. Doubtless if his restraints were removed he would revert to his native telepathic communications, but this is one of the many rights denied to his kind.

Wealth & Financial state

Nothing. As part of his asylum deal with the Pact Worlds, Urbemor isn't permitted to own any property.
“Ah, the Neophytes that have troubled me for so long. I'm afraid I have no time for a villainous monologue, as my snipers are already in position. FIRE!”
— Urbemor, still masquerading as Del Agrae, attempts his escape from Verces. Tyrfing, Zanderbey and Julakesh deny his retreat.
