Chalice Wardens

Structure

Ellisar Glynphine acts as the military overseer for the Pewter Guild council and as such is the one who issues the commands to march, attack, and defend. Below him are seven ranking officers who preside over units of soldiers in the various districts of Bahask. Below these ranking officers are simple soldiers, each with equal rank but many with unique positions within their squad and greater army. There are soldiers who make up the front lines and are the heavily armored shield bearers, archers, cavalry, and the most elite, warcasters. All these soldiers move at the behest of their ranking officer who in turn commands strictly on the word of the Pewter Guild council.

Public Agenda

Soldiers of the Chalice Wardens take an oath upon acceptance into the military swearing their unfailing loyalty first to the Pewter Guild and all that they stand for and second to the current Council Chair of the Guild. Protecting the sovereignty of the Guild is the primary goal of the army, ensuring that riots are put down and quashed before they become any more than a squabble as well as protecting the borders from any outside threats that may threaten any part of the Guild's hold on the Bahask region. Squads of soldiers are deployed from their region into the towns and cities that are under Guild control to keep the piece, acting as a police force as well as a night watch for raids from brigand or other threatening groups.

Assets

With the expansion of their territory in the past 250 years, the Pewter Guild has gained control of a large number of assets both monetary and military. While Al Eridu marks the capital of the Guild's dominion of Bahask and thus has a large and elite military presence, the Highhold Sanctuary near the town of Ashflone to the south east of the city is the true center of Guild's military. Designed to be a final line of defense should the region come under heavy invasion, it is equipped with massive, fortified walls lined with all manner of anti-siege equipment from ballista to catapults and hot tar cauldrons. Besides this massive fortress, the Guild employs around six thousand troops at a time, all armed well with armor suiting their position in the military and all with enough rations to keep them ready to fight at all times. Of this whole, there are approximately one thousand cavalry soldiers each with a battle bred horse to ride. It is the belief of the Guild that the region that they have is their dominion and so defense is their priority above offense, not interested in conquering more territory. Due to this belief, there is nearly no siege weaponry or tools produced in the military at all and rather money is funneled into creating more powerful defensive fortifications in the passes and entrances to Bahask.
