Maritta Summer Exchange Tradition / Ritual in The Hylian Fantasy | World Anvil

Maritta Summer Exchange

Held around the summer solstice, the Maritta Exchange brings together artisans from Hyrules various tribes to share artistic and technical creations and acts as a showcase of the kingdoms cultures. The two week long event is not restricted to just artistic endeavors, hosting philosophers, scientists, engineers and farmers.
Developed from Needs
During Hyrules reconstruction following the Calamity and Upheaval events, Zelda Arpina saw a need to unite the tribes in their efforts. Working with Hudson Construction and the Yunobo Mining Company Arpina led the rebuilding of the old Maritta Exchange into a grand market that could house hundreds of stalls. Early adopters of the Exchange included the Zora and Rito peoples, who brought their own unique construction concepts. Over the next few years the exchange would begin having more artistic products, especially from Gerudo jewelers and metal workers. Additionally, the arrival of so many artisans and builders would lead to a influx of merchants selling their goods.

A Joining of Cultures

Each of the Hyrule tribes is iconic for their primary offering during the exchange.
Hylian Joinery and Masonry
Used to working with wood and stone, the Hylians pride themselves on their artisan woodworking and carpentry and sturdy, long lasting stonework. Additionally, due to their proximity to all of the tribes they also bring unique fusions of food from each culture they have borrowed from.

Sheikah Technology
No longer forced into feared exile, the Sheikah technological advancements have lead to new developments in communication and information transfer, helping to more strongly unite the far corners of the kingdom.

Food Fashion
Cultural developments in food have lead to an increase in designer produce, such as glowing pumpkins and uniquely shaped fruits. Many of these have come from Hateno Town in East Necluda, though the Gerudo and Faronian Hylians have been no slouches in developing their own designer agriculture.
