The last act of Syn
Historical Basis
This marks the moment that The Quartet lost in their war against the Shadows. Syn had been Heralded as the now acting head of the Quartet after Vilorlith was slain by Shadow: Wrath in the Citadel located on her home planet, The Cradle. Vilorlith in her death throes, annihilated the Shadows armies of Shadow Touched Children in a desperate attempt to slow them down. But, she did this at a great sacrifice, she had killed many hundreds of thousands of her her own Children in the attack.
It is said they willing gave her their own power to allow her to do so, seeing no alternative to the situation. Syn had, unwillingly, accepted her new role. Ordering the remaining armies to descend on The Cradle, to eliminate the remaining Shadows that hadn't been weakened by Vilorlith's sacrifice.
However, she nor the other members of the Quartet and their armies knew what was to happen, she had been tricked. The Shadows had known full well that Vilorlith might make such a sacrifice and laid a trap. The Ash Bringers that has arrived with the full might of the Quartet were immediately swarmed and locked in combat.
Kyln had touched his feet to the ashy earth and was slain by Shadow Envy, his body stolen from him in the still falling ash of the world. Syn had attempted to intervene seeing the trap only a moment before, but far too late. She was assailed in the north Isle of Mhuzelt and consumed by Shadow Lust.
Syn furious, defeated, and isolated sought revenge on these Shadows that had taken everything from her and her Children, her people, the people of the other gods. In her final act of defiance against this unending sea of Shadow, took all options away from the Shadows.
She burned away the last of her power, she snuffed out the force of thousands of stars, she needed their power. She burned away every last inhabitable planet that could house life in any form, she created The Burned. She stripped away the only chance the Shadows infection had, trapping them on the Cradle where they had would be forced to survive.
She in her last act, gave The Queen of the Fae one final order: "Run dear sister, take as many of the Children as you can, and destroy this place."
