The Great Tree's Unofficial Challenge: Reverie

Welcome Friends!

Intro

I find myself wandering many worlds. Worlds built with skillful hands, divine in their ability to create. Orators of peerless imagination, writers whose pens would rival the greatest authors to have walked the blessed earth with heartbeats undeterred. I've found many of these worlds on my own, I have become invested in many stories far beyond what I could have thought of.

The love and careful detail you all have put into each of your projects is nothing short of inspiring. Some of you have been here from what feels like the beginning, some are new arrivals here. Some of you are pillars to this community, some watch from the background. Be not hesitant to join here, I want to see where these Great Branches stretch out to. I want to showcase what you have made.

What I want to see is what memories you can make here, I want to see how you can pull your readers in. I want to see you all put your best foot forward and amaze us all with the wonderful world you have made.
Consider this an homage to the community and the memories you have made in this last year!

To the Brass Taxes: What is this?

To quickly hammer out the tedious hows and whys; any article type is open to use, there are no restrictions for what you can write about so long as it is about the prompt. Let's try to keep the word count under 3500, (I'm long-winded so I will offer this same propensity to you as well).

There are three rewards for this challenge!
img:6139459

  • First: everyone gets a participation badge, I have spent quite a while making this, and I'm quite proud of it if I do say so myself! Six or several drafts later, I finally made this! All you need to do is submit your article in the comments here and you can claim your prize!

  • The second prize is determained by the community itself! The top three articles with the most likes will win a $100 gift card. Winners will be given my discord username to claim their prize I will DM you with your prize! We don't need anyone grifting your hard work out from under you. (Or if discord is not preferred it can be discussed at a later date for your preference.)

  • The third prize will be a unique badge made by me for you to display to your heart's content! This will be my personal favorite article, anyone who has spent any time in the world I have made might have a bit of an advantage here. Yes, I will be reading all of them. Though winning one of the top spots does not exclude you from this prize, and vice versa. The amount of attention and likes your article will have no bearing on which one I choose.

The Prompt:

A Reverie profound, steeped in attachment.

How to enter

With World Ember coming up quick, the Challenge will officially open on December 1st, articles submitted before this time will be hidden on this page until the start. With this in mind, the Challenge will remain open until January 14th. Winners will be announced on January 31st. So please take your time crafting your article, and advertise your pieces!
  • Make an article of any type, media, drawing, map, timeline, or music, (if only a drawing or music, link it in an article) and post it in the comments here!

  • If posting or Journaling use the tag #Unoffical challenges and/or #Reverie

  • One entry per Author/Creator
Note: AI art will be allowed only in written articles. Meaning it is used as decoration, not the main thing. It's all about the writing, not the AI. If artwork is the only thing you do, it must be yours.

A wonderful Fable about overcoming fear for the benefit of many! A wonderful memory in the world's history.
Contemplating Death
Prose | Dec 9, 2024

Sometimes we don't realize how important we are to other people, until they tell us.

Does the mind need the reassurance of a friendly voice? Does the listless waves of life beat against the mind as they do the shore? I suppose it's a matter of perspective, but do not let the mind wander down dark places without the help hands around you. A sad, but beautiful memory!

A Moment of reflection

Even when the world is agaisnt you, even when the situation you have found yourself in is an ugly reality that has numbed over time; the memories of our past are the the foundations to motivations set deep.

When we dream, we seek to understand. Consciously or no, to delve into the mind of another in shared experience is to learn on a deeper plane. Marriages, partnerships, a thing divine. To build new memories off the foundations of the old, a monument to the strength of it all.
A Moment, Fractured
Prose | Jan 14, 2025

Time flows like a river. Ever moving, shaping the land around it, and it waits for none. Not even gods.

Not every memory is a plesant to those involved, in place and time the pleasure rests only in the memory of the mind it came from. Though evil exists in this world, a reverie to one, is terror to all. A momentous moment, a memory substantial, a history to cement the whole of the world.

Prose | Dec 24, 2024

Part IV of The Longest Journey

Sometimes memories can make you question fact from fiction. What is real and arcane. Like many others, the relief is just being done with it, the end to a long night. No matter how the mind sees it, it can be a powerful thing, be careful for the things we do just for some means to an end.

The last rites of the Dracanis people.

A ritual to remember the dead, not to wallow In the saddness of their loss, but to remember the life they lived. A beautiful piece to fit the memory of the world.
Enough
Prose | Dec 30, 2024
Now, memories are a funny thing, a question to the past. To receive an answer back with perfect clairity, or as perfectly as one can recall. Here's the funny thing about it this aspect, memories are made in real time. So the creation of one is as significant as the reverie involved. So tell us your story, even as you make it here and now. A wonderfully impactful story!

Now, even when it comes to the trials and tribulations of the world, one can always learn from one's own imagination. Take heed though, a journey through mind is as nurturing as it is reckless.
A desert rose by any other name
Generic article | Dec 19, 2024
Like a whisper on warm shifting sands, in my mind I hear an old barkeeper huddled over a table keeping the only patrons interested with a tale. The scent of odd spices, the smell of honied spirits, the warm air cooled by shade. Like a page out of the Arabian Knights! A beautiful and swashbuckling memory!
Vision
Prose | Jan 14, 2025
Everything has a past, where we are in this place in time, in this place now. Sometimes the impact hurts, sometimes it's something we wish to not see again. The pain, the trauma, the memories never happy, sometimes the reverie is just knowing that the memory is over.
