Manfred of House Coeman was one of the greatest scholars from the Age of Prosperity. Much of his works surround the discovery and cataloging of native plants throughout the world. His travels have taken him from the frozen north to the dangerous grasslands in Mhu'khul.
Early Life
Manfred was born in the later half of Un'sol at the family estate in Kampon. He was the third son of Peter and Corine. He was a small child that had a natural curiosity of the surrounding world. In his early years he was often found by the estate maids in the family garden. His curiosity for plants and flowers often ended with him in the library searching for any knowledge on the subject. Noticing his growing mind, his mother would surround him with tutors to feed his curiosity. When his oldest brother came of age, their father began to decide the next steps for the family. At the time, House Coeman was in the middle of a bid to become one of the five heads of the Visam Trading Company. The oldest, Alfred, was already a crucial part in the family's bid as one of the heads of the sea. The 2nd eldest, Herbert, was already a first class swordsman at the age of fourteen. His skill with the sword would allow him to join the military college in Kampon to further strengthen the family. With Manfred excelling in his studies it was decided that he would help the family by traveling with the trade ships in search of new business ventures and strengthening the families ties with different colleges under the jurisdiction of the Company.
World Travels
Mhu'khul
The southern grasslands of Mhu'khul would be one of the first places that Manfred traveled to after he left home. Much of the region remained largely unexplored. This was due to the hostile Org'var tribes to the north and the many mysteries and disappearances known to the area. He would make a few discoveries surrounding Sky Daisies but little else.
Tra'dal
Manfred would spend many months in the forests of Jal'eko under the protection of the Kingdom of Tra'kar. While his requests were rejected at first he was eventually able to convince them to allow him to study the fauna of the region. They would introduce him to many new herbs used in different types of medicines. However they would reject his offers to open up trade for these herbs.
Ca'rei Island
He would continue to travel north until he reached Ca'rei Island. Like many before him the island seemed a paradise. He would spend months at Highsreign studying the many birds and aviaries. His time at the castle would be of great importance as his work would eventually allow House Coeman to capture and domesticate a species of Nightjars that would allow for the travel of messages between ships and other settlements. After a while his father would become concerned as he no longer would receive letters from his son or his ship. Peter would eventually send word through another ship traveling north to find his son and discover what had happened. A few weeks later he would discover that Manfred had set out to the woods and was living in a logging camp to study the native avians.
