Leveling Up My Worldbuilding Skills in 2025, Care to Join?
I'm new(ish)
First-time jitters! Think you could handle a bit of ginger spice in your life? But seriously, I'm excited to be here and would love to connect with you.
I'm jumping headfirst into the world of consistent worldbuilding in 2025, and I'm hoping to bring some of you along for the ride!
Why am I here?
That is an excellent question. I can't answer that with a simple sentence. Well, I could answer why YOU are here: you clicked on the link you found or was shared with you, and BAM! you are here.
But why am I here? I can ask back, why is anyone here? But that doesn't help much though.
The best answer I have is a small voice - nah not a voice, more like a feeling that aches for me to be a writer. I've had this since I was young like fifth or sixth grade (but I never said anything until 8th grade when I was asked what do you want to be when you grow up.) Either way, it's been in here for many, many years. And I have decided that I am going to listen to the feeling and get some writing done.
2025 New Year's Resolutions
Now, I am not a huge fan of resolutions. I like goals, but calling things resolutions tends to kill things off the bat. But for this challenge, I will swallow my pride and call my goals 'resolutions.'
Next, I am not a huge fan of biting off more than I can chew, so I will break everything into smaller chunks. So bear with me as I break this down. Also, these are just the bullet points, I have a much more fluffed-out edition in my journal.
My Writing Resolution for 2025
Goal: To cultivate a consistent writing practice by June 2025 and complete a draft of my novel by December 31, 2025.
Specifics and next steps:
- Writing Target:
- Write a minimum of 2000 words every day - without judgment or an editor. Just get the words on the paper!
- Novel Focus
- Begin with a basic outline that allows for flexibility as the story develops. Complete the outline by the end of January 2025.
- Complete the first draft by the end of 2025.
- Accountability
- Find a writing partner to check in with regularly. (I NEED HELP WITH THIS ONE!)
- Share my resolution with friends, family, or online communities. (This is what I hope World Anvil will help with.)
- Track my progress and reflections in a dedicated journal. (I’m super into bullet journaling so this isn’t as scary as others.)
- Rewards & Incentives:
- Celebrate milestones with (SOMETHING).
- Treat myself to (SOMETHING) upon completing the draft.
- I need to figure out rewards for myself but I think they will come to be as I work on this. Right now I just need to get what my goal is out first.
IMPORTANT!!!
Before just diving in (or more like working out the kinks as I start), I need to work on creating a dedicated writing space, eliminating distractions, and finding a time of day when you're most alert and productive.
Articles Written by Anvilites

Wrap up
I'm inspired by the talent and creativity I have found within the amazing community here. I have a lot of catching up to do! I am eager to embark on this journey of worldbuilding and to learn from everyone here. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts or offer words of encouragement—I welcome it all! Let's build amazing worlds together!
Side note
As I am writing this, I am currently debating on accepting a job, outside of the house. This might be the first time in SEVEN years I have worked outside of the house. I have worked from home (or was in college) since the birth of my oldest just over ten years ago. Outside of working a seasonal job for two years while I was in college, I have been home. In March of 2023, I lost my remote job and I have taken the time since to work on my mental and physical health. Now I am debating on what my next steps are! Thank you for reading this!
No more side note
I didn't take the job. So I am going to focus on my writing and worldbuilding!
Thanks for the mention and best of luck in 2025!
