The Jade Consecrate
The Jade Consecrate stands as a powerful clan within the Thelvara Dynasty , charged with safeguarding the emperor and maintaining order among the clans. Although they manage a relatively small territory it includes the emperors palace and Swans' Rest within the capital. Their influence extends through their elite skills in combat, protection, and enforcement of the Dynasty’s stability by the will of the Emperor. Unlike other clans, the Jade Consecrate abstains from political maneuvering, dedicating themselves solely to the Dynasty’s security. They act on the emperor’s behalf, intervening in serious conflicts and managing disputes only when necessary, with the emperor’s advisors serving as their diplomatic representatives. The Jade Consecrate are both the Dynasty’s shield and, paradoxically, the emperor’s greatest threat.
While their primary responsibility is to protect the emperor, the Jade Consecrate also bear a somber and challenging role: they are tasked with removing an emperor deemed unfit to rule. It is an unspoken truth that many emperors do not reach their natural lifespan, for the Jade Consecrate’s loyalty to the Dynasty as a whole outweighs any allegiance to a single individual. Emperors are thus constantly reminded that their protectors are also their potential executioners. The constant presence of the Jade Consecrate reinforces a powerful notion—that with great authority comes great restraint, a concept embodied by an ancient relic of the Dynasty.
This relic is The Emperor’s Restraint, a mystical sword crafted in response to the bloodthirsty rule of an emperor in 27th century. Forged by a renowned bladesmith, this sword grows in power the longer it remains sheathed, becoming stronger with each passing year it remains unused. Symbolizing the restraint that should define an emperor’s rule, the sword has come to represent the balance of power in the Dynasty. It was presented to the succeeding emperor and entrusted to the Jade Consecrate’s most important member: the Guardian of the Emperor also known from that point on as the Keeper of the Sheath. This figure is chosen from the Consecrate’s finest, responsible for the emperor’s safety, enforcing the Dynasty’s laws, and, when necessary, enacting the emperor’s will with the use of The Emperor’s Restraint. Yet history has shown that almost every emperor who has had the sword drawn in their reign has met an early end, a reminder of the caution and measured judgment expected from them.
