Nelos Acosaphaura (NEL-LOES Ah-KO-sah-FOW-rah)
Wingsmith, Priik-Razakir
Nelos was the second-eldest son of Devatska and Eraleon Acosaphaura. Nelos died in suspicious circumstances following a supposed 'intellectual dispute'; his body was found in the Tubisqu River. This followed a rash of suspicious deaths of his father and all but one of his brothers.
His family's talents with koza-riding manifested in his easy career within the Razakir of the Itoqir alongside his father (and to an extent, his brother Andras), but his lack of respect for authority figures and orders and dislike of positions of authority meant that despite his talent he only achieved the Priik rank. Pyda Halbejan was his immediate supervisor during the war. His veterinary skills, however, allowed him to become a Wingsmith -- a vocation better-suited to his aloof nature -- alongside his best friend Aramastus Danig.
There are contradictory opinions on whether he deliberately played down his abilities whilst in training, or if the Razakir simply provided him the best environment in which to improve his skills. His mind was frequently touted to be as sharp as his mother’s, but he was also one of the top-performing soldiers although he declined to take any position of authority offered to him. His preference for solitary work and habit of making unconventional choices earned him the reputation of being an eccentric, but his contributions toward veterinary science could not be discounted.
Devatska referred to him as her 'talented one'.
