Eburos (EY-boor-roes)

The Eburos family is one of the oldest and wealthiest in Ustraria and while never typically holding positions of authority, they have had significant influence over any territory in which they find themselves. They are typically powerful land-owners and responsible for commissioning buildings and other infrastructure important to a community, and have earned a reputation for being forward-thinking -- if occasionally eccentric or tunnel-visioned -- philanthropists. Many members of the family have been accomplished Physicias or Clerics. Eburos money has also featured in significant historical military or political campaigns.   The current heads of the family are Martus and Biae Eburos (the latter moreso, due to Ustraria's matriarchal nature), the Chief Physicias of Ustraria based in Korzhûn. They are sometimes referred to as a pair, "Chief Physicias Eburos", since they are rarely seen without one another. Having opened one of the first dedicated hospitals and medical schools in Icalar, the Eburos House, they are also turning their rigorous work ethic toward imposing much-needed standardized levels of training/qualifications on the profession. Likewise their children, Phidene and Fieron, are prominent in Korzhûn in their own right despite having diverged from the medical field.   Since around 750AC the family seat has been the Eburos Estate (formerly the Eburos House, prior to the hospital's founding) in the northeastern outskirts of Korzhûn. It consists of a large manor but relatively small attached grounds; they do, however, own additional land throughout Ustraria along with a 'summer retreat' in the northeast corner of the country.

Public Agenda

Biae, as a young Physicia in training who happened to be present in Ironwell for one of the Quelldraw incidents, was instrumental in gaining the support of her family to instigate the authoring of the Quelldraw Act through their civil connections. Her anti-firearm stance has persisted to the present day and is shared by Martus, and as such, is a quasi-formal blanket stance for the family entire and the Eburos House.
