Bonefire Circle

The Bonefire Circle is the oldest independent educational collective for Bloodsingers and, until the appearance of the Seminary of Xaescyra and the wandering Yso Moroketu, the only such 'school'. Although Clerics have sometimes trained in the Circle, most students have been Rel or Uon practitioners -- and it is no secret that some warlocks have been unintentionally produced as well.   It is made unique by its system of small academies throughout Icalar overseen by a central government, making it one of the few examples in Bloodsinger history of an attempt at standardization. The flaw came when students graduated and then were largely left to their own devices outside the academies, where they may have shifted away from the standards they were taught and received no recompense. Although classed as a school or academy, the reality was that these sites more often resembled dojos or hahk-sebi in their approach and operations, with the difference being that 'students' were often immediately treated as members of a secret society or adherents of an ancient tradition. To 'be a member of the Bonefire Circle' denotes not only one's training, but also belonging to a strong, often subversive -- but not necessarily malicious -- network of fellow channelers. On the one hand this carries the positive connotation of a long and successful history, while on the other it can smack of archaism or (to some) a connection with shadowwork.   Both the founders of the Seminary of Xaescyra and Yso Moroketu were former Bonefire adherents. Peithya Bocohs is credited with tempering the group's subversiveness and acting as a liaison between it and the outside world. Tieorise Mamnafetche, Ce Yicye, and Jonna Biqare are other notable past members.
