Luke Valerie
"Boss" Luke Lynn- Valerie (a.k.a. Val)
Luke Valerie, the second-in-command of the L's Group; quick on his feet with even quicker reaction time. He thrives in perfect execution, ensuring everything runs smoothly. He coordinates their various schemes, from information gathering to low-key smuggling.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Born from an affair, Luke was raised with a sense of... abandonment. His father was often absent, focused on his own ambitions, while his mother struggled to provide a stable home. Even though she was a good woman, her efforts didn't quite fill the emotional ache left by his father's neglect.
Education
Being from Allium, Luke didn't receive a formal education. Instead, he learned on the streets. He became adept at reading people, a skill that serves him well in his dealings with the group (and Ryker.)
Employment
Before his father's death, Luke worked various odd jobs that often ivolved manual labour or low-level hustling.
Mental Trauma
Luke carries some deep trust issues from his childhood. He struggles with feelings of inadequacy and often worries that he will be abandoned again, especially by Ryker.
Having seen many of his childhood friends die early, he grapples with survivor's guilt, which drives his (sometimes) reckless behaviour.
Intellectual Characteristics
Luke is street-smart and has a knack for thinking on his feet. He is quick to adapt to changing circumstances and takes a change in plans with a cool head.
He's got a sharp intellect, often analysing situations to find the most advantageous outcomes. It saved his and some operatives' skins many times.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Despite their rocky relationship, Luke is motivated by a longing to forge a bond with Ryker. He wants to prove himself as an equal and earn his brother’s respect, hoping to build the family he never had.
He harbours a deep resentment towards the Commanders and the corrupt system that abandoned him. His actions with Ryker are partly driven by a desire to disrupt that system. (the other part is money, and yet another part is being a menace.)
Virtues & Personality perks
Once someone earns his trust, Luke is fiercely loyal. He would go to great lengths to protect those he cares about, particularly Ryker and their crew.
Despite his tough exterior, Luke has a compassionate side, especially towards those who remind him of his own struggles. He often provides aid to the downtrodden in Fortrop (he hadn't forgotten where he came from yet).
Vices & Personality flaws
Luke often acts without thinking, which can lead to reckless decisions that jeopardise their operations. His need for instant gratification sometimes gets the better of him.
He has a penchant for gambling, sometimes using it as an escape from his problems. He's lost more than he's earned.
Relationships
While not really the Boss, Luke kind of is one, too. Ryker's word is his word, and Luke's word is Ryker's word. He might not hold the official title but the fact that it's Luke who's often deployed with the operatives led them to see him as an authority figure in his own right (not just because him and Ryker and brothers.)
