L's Group
L's Group, led by Ryker Lynn and Luke Valerie, is one of the most well-known black market organisations on Fortrop. Everyone who knows where to look, knows that they exist - they're infamous for their standing as long as they have.
While their primary focus is on the black market and keeping it going, they do provide various other services, like information gathering and covert operations; for the right price, that is.
Structure
Leader - Ryker Lynn
- Most of L's responsibilities include planning, making high-level decisions, negotiating deals, and making sure the Watchers are off their asses.
Second-in-Command - Luke Valerie
- Val is more of an acter than a thinker, and so are his responsibilities.
- They include the execution of Ryker's plans, managing the lower ranks, handling logistics, and ensuring proper discipline within the group.
Operatives are the men that actually carry out whatever L has come up with.
Enforcers:
- They handle security, protection, and enforcement of the group's rules. They ensure that deals go smoothly and debts are collected.
Smugglers:
- Specialised in moving goods (and, maybe, sometimes people) across Fortrop.
Information Brokers:
- They gather and sell intelligence. They infiltrate other organisations, gather blackmail material, and provide information to clients.
Technicians:
- Experts in technology and Alternation Weaving, they handle forgeries, tampering with evidence, and altering electronic records
Support staff:
- Handles logistics, communications and other administrative tasks to keep the group running smoothly. They secure comms, manage finances and provide support during operations.
Culture
Loyalty above all. The members see each other as a family and betrayal is considered the gravest sin. Everyone else is to be watched or sceptical of; unless you're a friend of a family, that is.
There's a certain defiance against authority among them; they do have a strong anti-authoritarian stance. In their eyes, the government is an oppressive force that's impossible to get rid of, but not impossible to resist.
They believe in self-reliance. L highly encourages independence and learning how to save your own ass; he values ingenuite and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in his people.
Public Agenda
The main goal is simple: Profit.
L's group exists primarily to generate livable wealth for its members, especially for Ryker and Val.
There is also some want for power; control might be a better word. By being the key players in the black parket and possessing highly valuable information, L's Group aims to be have power over other factions and individuals; especially politicians.
History
It started with two estranged brothers.
Ryker Lynn and Luke Valerie, who found themselves temporarily united by a shared loss of their father; a wealthy and influential man that had all his possessions seized by the government after his death, leaving his sons with nothing.
Despite the differences in their worldviews, this did not fly for either of them.
That same year, the two of them had fromed L's Group. They began by recruiting a small group of loyal followers, quickly establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. The early days were tough; constantly on the run, smuggling, stealing, evading the Watchers. They lost people but for every loss, they struck back tenfold.
And so, their reputation grew, attracting more followers who had that same spite for the government.
Ryker continued to expand their horizons over time. They forged alliances with other criminal organisations and started to infiltrate the Nexus and Iris to gather valuable intelligence.
Despite--or maybe because--of that, internal conflicts were often and hot. Ryker's self-serving nature clashed with Val's desire for a more structured and disciplined organisation. However, they recognised their mutual dependence.
After all, they wouldn't have got that far without the other.
In the year 3321, L's Group is known for its efficiency and the ability to evade the Watchers. They are sought for and after and everyone who knows anything of the underworld of Fortrop, knows of them.
The group's inception was driven by a personal vendetta against the government, a vendetta that continues to fuel their operations and attract like-minded individuals.
And the plans for the future have never been greater.
