Ice Mountains Geographic Location in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

Ice Mountains

Like normal mountains, but slippery.

These towering formations were created as a result of the centrifugal force gradually pulling moisture out of the ground and freezing it. These jagged cones are treacherously rough around the edges.

Geography

They rise like a thousand blades against the blackened sky, most ends meeting to form the mountain shape, but a few stray sheets appear more like thin walls against the horizon. They are semi-transparent, though light is very scarce in the Outer Lands and these structures look to be almost black despite their purity. However, some powerful Mages are able to make out their surroundings with a magical loophole known as Radiance, which works best in the Outlands since they store high concentrations of magic.

Fauna & Flora

The Outland Teeth would normally be uninhabitable due to the extreme lack of greenery, but thanks to an excessive release of magic from the minerals beneath the ice, there are various creatures able to survive. There are rumors of fantastic monsters who roam these lands which have been mutated beyond recognition from the paradox-correcting energy and incredibly dangerous. Not that there are any "recognizable" animals in Flux, but if dinosaurs were pebbles, these creatures would be more akin to bowling balls.

Natural Resources

There are numerous minerals buried deep below the ice mountains, but most of those are mined from beneath by dwellers of the The Middle Lands. The ice itself, however, contains trace amounts of magic (being formed over time from the dew that surrounded the mystical stones, it adopted similar qualities) and are coveted by many as a potent hallucinogen. Unfortunately, Outland ice loses most of its effects when reduced to a liquid state, and is very hard to come by outside of this wasteland.
