Zephalos

Geography

Zephalos is a region in South Quentar and North Desilica. It forms the border between the two subcontinents, straddling the desert lands between the River Malere and the River Dahwat. It is an ancient human land, being one of the first regions to be inhabited by free humans as the human Wars of Liberation defeated Spritish civilisations. Zephalos is quite intensely farmed in some places, but is very barren in others. Zephalos is crisscrossed with a large system of drains, helping to irrigate some of the more arid regions. Rulers used these hydraulic tools throughout history to control the region, leading to the formation of a stratified society split between farmers and rulers.
Zephalos is a huge region and has never been fully unified since its founding. However, the Zephalosi are a unique culture group, making it difficult for foreign groups to control the region. It borders both Sleximelan, Tupheala, Ioxanys, and Lithaedo to the north-west, Pheahunem to the north-east, and Brakkaria and Xacciarath to the east.
