Quentar

Geography

Quentar is a subcontinent of Tarynia, located in the west of the continent. It is bounded by the Seezhin Ocean to the north and west, Desilica to the south, and the Faranix Mountains to the east. The endorheric lake, the Ageron Sea, and the Vysilian Forest dominate the continent. It contains many small mountain ranges, flat coastal plains, and river valleys, with two of the longest rivers in the world crossing the continent.
Quentar is sub-divided into several regions- North Quentar, West Quentar, Ageron Coast, the Vysilian Forest, East Quentar, and South Quentar. These regions were mostly human dominated by 1000 AT, with Spritish races to either the Vysilian Forest or a few enclaves.
The early human history of Quentar was dominated by the founding of human city states and the rise of the Empire of Ghassum, which dominated most of the continent and beyond. The decline and fall of the Empire led to the diversification of Quentar as regions became more isolated and heterogeneous. By 600 PT, Quentar was fought over by hundreds of warring human states and factions. Ingress into Vysilia caused further decline of Spritish influences. By 900 PT, Quentar had begun to stabilise under a few major, cosmopolitan empires and nation-states.
Quentar was one the home of the peoples of Sylomia and the later human inhabitants of the Blood Basin. Quentari civilisations often fought against Republian and Desilican powers for dominance and control of the human world. Quentari influences are still felt in the modern day, as major metropolises dot the Quentari coastline and Ageron interior.
