Fredrick von Mountainheart’s story begins with his father, King Edward, a mortal ruler consumed by ambition. Seeking power, Edward traveled to the Feengrenze and struck a blood oath with Ailénach An Draíocht, Queen of Enchantments, ensuring that their children would one day marry. Fredrick and Aoibheann met as infants, and their bond was immediate and inseparable, as though their love was written in the stars.
As adolescents, Fredrick and Aoibheann embodied the ideal fairy tale prince and princess—radiating charm, beauty, and kindness. Their days were filled with idyllic adventures and playful reenactments of storybook romances. However, their perfect union was tested when Edward, now drunk on the magic granted by Ailénach, sought to marry Fredrick to a captured princess to solidify his newly conquered kingdom. This betrayal shattered the blood oath.
Ailénach, furious at Edward's hubris, unleashed her wrath. Despite Fredrick and Aoibheann’s efforts to mediate, tensions escalated, and Aoibheann convinced Fredrick to run away with her to avoid a catastrophic conflict. Her fears were realized when Ailénach called upon a wish spell, summoning a fragment of the Feyglimmer Sea and a whimwhirl to destroy Edward’s kingdom.
Caught in the calamity, Fredrick and Aoibheann were swept away. Fredrick awoke transformed into a powerful wolfman archfey, while his people became the beast-like Pucca. Fredrick rebuilt his kingdom, now known as New Mountainheart, in the Feengrenze. Though he led his people to stability, his heart was consumed by grief and longing for Aoibheann. His eternal search for her, punctuated by despair and failed quests, left him a shadow of the king he once was.
Fredrick’s centuries of sorrow culminated in his eventual overthrow by High Marshal Murtagh. However, a group of adventurers led a rebellion, rescuing Fredrick and reuniting him with Aoibheann. With his beloved by his side once more, Fredrick has regained his vigor and now works tirelessly to rebuild New Mountainheart, his love for Aoibheann fueling his determination.
