Kokuja Doku is a Remnant Mercenary who was born into the same Digitarian /Lascarian clan as Rikku Shadozu. He was the result of an affair between Nightfall and a Digitarian woman in the clan. This caused Kokuja to be a Remnant. He was born with a mutation of black reptile-like scales in patches all over his body. His mother disowned him and he was taken in by Nightfall who raised him alongside Rikku and Soran Kyoki. In their early 20's Kokuja and Rikku joined Death's Exorcists as a means of protecting their home. Here Kokuja met a medic named Rachel who he fell in love with after some time. He and Rachel would eventually leave the organization to pursue the ideals of the Final Knights. This would eventually lead to the War On Hell, which saw Death's Exorcists exterminating Final Knights on sight in Daemon City. Rikku Shadozu would ultimately be the one to take down their leader, who happened to be the current Ascended holding the power of the Devil. This passed the power onto Rikku, swapping his allegiance and exiling him from Death's Exorcists. Kokuja would stay in Daemon City while Rikku Shadozu would go on to form the 13 Evils. Kokuja has since been reenlisted into Death's Exorcists as a means to combat Rikku and the 13 Evils.
