The Market

The Market happens once per tenday in Centerville, starting in the early morning of each Sixday. Farmers, Craftspeople, and Task Mages assemble, spreading out blankets, carts, or tables covered with food and goods to sell and trade with others in the Enclave. It is centered on Speaker's Square and spreads down the surrounding streets. It is crowded, boisterous, and busy, with many street food vendors. Entertainers such as jugglers and musicians are common, and there are usually a few preaching Clerics. Although the Market is aboveground and several miles from the Dwarven Catacombs, many Dwarves come to buy, sell, and trade. Members of the The Enclave Council are usually present at the Market, talking with various people and getting feedback about government activities. The Market is also an excellent venue for hiring laborers or skilled workers.
Fistfights sometimes break out, but the Enclave Watch usually puts a stop to them quickly. Thefts also occasionally occur.
The Market usually winds down after lunch, and people return to their regular jobs in the afternoon.
