Irm Murkrock

Irm Murkrock is an obsessive and reclusive dwarven ranger ('caver'). He is small and lean for a dwarf, but is wiry and strong. He lives to explore, and often vanishes for weeks into little-explored labyrinthine passages. He usually returns tired, bruised, and hungry, sometimes with a specimen of an odd cave creature, a rare gem, or (very rarely) an ancient relic. Shandle Arthropscopi sometimes pays him for biological specimens, and has traveled with him occasionally.
Irm speaks little and is sometimes deliberately insulting, especially toward people who spend little time belowground. He can neither read nor write. However, he sometimes dictates accounts of his adventures to staff members at The Magical Library, and his knowledge of peculiar places belowground is second to none.
