Ira Morsen Character in The Emergent Plane | World Anvil

Ira Morsen

Ira is an unusual member of the Inquisitorium, and most find him somewhat difficult to get along with. While some Inquisitors join the order to protect Southstone, some join out of hatred of the Undead. As far as anyone can tell, Ira is the latter.   He won't talkabout it, but most assume Ira experienced something heavily traumatic in his youth that led him to the Inquisitorium. According to Lucius, the Inquisitor who trained Ira, the 12 year old boy was found outside the walls, in shock and covered in blood. Typically, people under the age of 18 are not permitted to join the Inquisitorium, and those under 20 are not sent on missions. However, once Ira learned of the Inquisitorium's purpose, he sat outside the doors of the order refusing to move or eat for a week until they allowed him into the sanctum. By age 15, he went on his first mission, making Ira the youngest Inquisitor in the recorded history of the order. It doesn't hurt that he has the combat prowess to back it up, outclassing even some of his seniors when it comes to eliminating Undead.   Ira rarely speaks, to the point most think he's mute. The first time anyone in Southstone heard him utter a word was when he was sworn into the Inquisitorium, when to everyone's shock he recited the same vows as his comrades. He seems to be able to communicate, but prefers to not speak unless it directly relates to a mission. Additionally, Ira is somewhat unusual among Southstone Inquisitors in that he's almost never seen without his mask on, only removing it to eat or sleep.
