Grand Republic of Binašru-ku
Binašru-ku is a state populated mostly by the Aimaur and ruled over by an Ursumar minority, most of whom are Bidanites. A young state, Binašru-ku traces its independence back just 26 years, to the end of the Third Rise of the Tögsgölgüi Ord. This war, lasting from 1958-1974 "shook the confidence of the merchants and their faith in the divine blessing of the Empire". Or, in layman's terms, made them decide they could get away with declaring independence. Binašru-ku, having already been controlled entirely by merchants, was one of the first of these states to leave the Empire, taking advantage of their already autonomous stature to easily expel loyalists.
Binašru-ku, despite being a young nation, can trace their state's founding back to the meddling of the Divinity of Ashēryku, which exterted influence on the various Aimaur states scattered along the coast of the great lake. Some of these states proved more resistant to influence than others, but by the late 1700s they were almost all under Ashērykan control. Almost. A few lakeside tribes escaped Ursumar influence, which was key. Nonetheless, Ashēryku never got to enjoy this dominance because its people were at war or dying of famine or the plague for every year of its existance past 1780. When the Divinity of Bēlqūašdu took over in 1815, they would ensure the tribes remained under Ursumar sway, but were otherwise occupied fixing the country and fighting centaurs until the 1850s. 30 years of influencing the Aimaur, and Bēlqūašdu made its move. Unopposed by the now loyal tribes, Bēlqūašdu's armies marched into the savanna and crushed those who opposed them. The autonomous region of Binašru-ku was established on the northernmost part of these lands, and the defeated tribes were enslaved and forced to move there, while loyal tribes once inhabiting these lands were moved south (they ensured the migrating tribes got better lands so they remained loyal).
Binašru-ku was thus established, and Bidanite merchants quickly moved in. They forced the newly acquired slaves to build opulent manor houses, hired Abrāshi and Talpehlari overseers, and got to work turning the savanna into a massive series of plantations. The only parts of Binašru-ku to see any sort of urbanization were the rivers running through the state, as these two rivers were used to ship the goods out of the autonomous region. Thus, an uneasy peace began, as the Bidanite lords and their manors began running relatively smoothly and exporting goods at a great profit. This uneasy peace didn't last, however, as slave revolts would swiftly become and remain the largest obstacle Binašru-ku faces in making a profit. The empty savanna, almost entirely unpopulated besides these slave manors, still had several Aimaur tribes which refused to leave or escape capture, and they assisted rogue slaves in escape or in building hideaways within Binašru-ku. This was swiftly compounded by reports of vampiric assaults on plantation owners, which began early in 1901.
The Bidanites, while not having as large of a concentration of vampires as their Kašātu cousins, nonetheless have a sizable contingent of them amongst the nobility. Some of these lords saw the untamed and unpopulated frontier as the perfect opportunity to get away from the prying eyes of religious figures, who view the Hematic Court that most Ursumar vampires follow as a heretical sect. Although these vampires are often very careful who they turn and who they feed on, in the lawless frontier things don't always go to plan. Ever since then, the Aimaur have had two sects of resistance- one of vampiric nature, and one of regular humans. The two movements despise one another because vampires are seen as inherantly evil by the Aimaur. A cladestine organization of Ursumar vampires has also been formed to counteract this resistance, but it has seen just as much success as the gendarme have in rooting out the regular rebels.
Over time, most Binašru-ku merchants made their wealth through sugar, cotton, tobacco, and fruits, and the province's wealth grew to rival that of the merchants across the bay. Nonetheless, they never had quite as much influence as the merchants who formed the Grand Republic of Annišāḫūtu, although there came to be a fierce rivalry between the two. When Annišāḫūtu declared independence, proposing to unite all Bidanites in one state, Binašru-ku refused, forming their own republic in defiance. This would also lead to the small province of Šapliḫīti, between the two rivals, to seek its own path, hoping to avoid a conflict between the two powers spilling over into its own sugarcane plantations. Annišāḫūtu had repeatedly blamed Binašru-ku for this as well as its own defiance, claiming the state is siding with the vampires of Ešērate of Aḫīalbu by working with the anti-resistance groups. This has led to tension between vampires and mortals within Annišāḫūtu, which naturally both Aḫīalbu and Binašru-ku hope to exploit.
Before the lands of Binašru-ku were owned by any humans, they were the bloody frontier between the orcs and the jungle trolls spilling into the savanna. The borders of Šapliḫīti ran up against this land, and were heavily fortified against raids. The Bidanites, being interested in mercantile ventures, weren't concerned with colonizing this land, as it were berefit of potential at this time. Perhaps if it had bordered other Ursumar it might have been settled by humans already, preventing Aimaur tribes from establishing there.
